Chapter 1: Can Count The Years On One Hand That We've Been Together

A/N: Hey guys, sorry I've been kind of MIA recently, I've just had soooo much on my plate, but that's all cleared now so I should be updating again soon! Yay! This is a new Star Trek:2009 fic that's been bouncing around in my head for a while, so I decided to get it down on paper (well, technically the internet). It will hopefully be about 13 chapters long also. This chapter is only around 300 words, just to see how it is perceived, but if you guys like it that chapters will continue at around 800 - 1200 words :) Oh, also, it don't think you necessarily need to be a massive Trekkie to undertand most of this or enjoy it, you just need to be a fluff lover :D

In regards to my other stories, I shall hopefully updating those soon, so stay tuned :D

Disclaimer: I do not own, nor do I claim to own any of the Star Trek characters mentioned in this story. They belong to Gene Roddenberry and the rest of the Star Trek crew. Ashleigh Emmerson and any other non-Star Trek characters belong to me. I also do not own the song "Still Into You" that belongs to Paramore and the rest of their amazing team :)

Ashleigh Emerson woke up promptly at 0600 hours, just as she did most mornings, and sighed contently to herself. Normally, she would drag herself out of bed, put on a fresh uniform and make her way into her tiny kitchen to get some bland tasting coffee from the replicator (provided it had actually decided to work of course). Today though, she allowed herself a few minutes to cast her eyes over the beautiful sleeping body next to her. She smiled at the way he held onto his pillow for dear life and the way his golden brown hair fell across his closed eyes. His lips were pursed into a straight line as if he was concentrating extremely hard on something and the rise and fall of his chest was slowly starting to increase. Ashleigh hadn't noticed this yet; she was still blissfully thinking of the night before.

It had been their 3rd anniversary together, and Pavel had been utterly and completely romantic. She still couldn't believe it had been 3 years. The number 3 isn't very special, nor is it very large. In fact, it's a number that one can count on a single hand, yet she still found it amazing. She found it amazing how 3 years could fly by, but she still felt that she'd known him all her life. She found it amazing that after 3 years they were still very much in love. She found it amazing that Pavel Chekov had fallen in love with her.

Before she knew it, a few indulgent extra minutes in bed had turned into half an hour and the time was 0630 hours. She took one last glance at Pavel, before turning to get out of bed. Just as her feet hit the floor, she felt the bed move slightly. She turned around and saw that Pavel had woken up. He laid paralyzed, aside from the shaking, and wide-eyed with fear.
