"Tom?" she tried to get a better look, "Tom, is that you?" There was nothing but silence. Yet the handsome man stood in front of her. Like a shadow. "It's me, Elizabeth." The man cocked his head. She made her way to him, cautiously and hopefully. As she got closer, she could hardly believe it. The rugged jaw line, the sharp nose, the angular cheeks. It was Tom. Her Tom.
Memories flooded her head and whether she stopped them or not was another issue entirely. They had obviously met at Hogwarts. But that was a long time ago. Both been top of the class. Both crazy and stupidly in love. Not been in love. Not her. She still loved him. More than ever.
"So I see you're a professor now." He said calmly. "Why are you doing this?" her shaky voice betrayed her face. "I don't want to hurt you." He said cautiously. "But you won't let me stand in your way either, is that it?" He turned and walked away. She was so furious she could have spit fire. But instead she zapped him with her wand in one swift motion, sparks flaming right on his behind. Flustered, and in a smoth, elegant way, Tom retaliated, aiming his wand at her. In a movement she didn't even catch, Tom lazily flicked his wand and her hands and feet were bound.
She fell to the ground in a muffled groan. Tom walked over to her and kneeled so their faces were close together. He leaned in and kissed her passionately on the lips, holding her face. "I'm going to miss you." He said in a hushed tone. Her eyes grew wide. "What?" he stood to walk away. "Tom what is that supposed to mean?" He turned at her angrily. "It's not Tom anymore! That person is gone, dead! Can't you see that?" Her eyes were wide with fear.
"It's Voldemort now." He said, nodding his head. Although whether he was trying to convince her or himself it wasn't certain. "Tom, please," a single tear rolled down her cheek. She knew what was to come. She had known all along. "Why couldn't you stay away? I told you not to get involved! Didn't I tell you that?" he sounded like a mad man.
"I'll leave Hogwarts if you want, I'm sorry-"
"It's too late now." He said, slowly raising his wand, thinking all the while.
"Tom."
"Avada Kedavra"
And with a flash of green there was nothing left to remember.
