A/N I Do Not Own Castle *Sad Face*
He sits up in bed, rests his back against her headboard, and looks over at her sleeping form. She's sprawled out on her stomach, face turned toward him yet buried in her pillow. The pale moonlight that filters into the room through her blinds casts shadows over her body. There is a small smile on her lips, her breathing deep and relaxed. Castle can't help but laugh a little at how sex sometimes completely wipes her out.
He stays like this, just watching her sleep for a moment and he knows that if she were to wake up she would just roll her eyes at him. But he can't help watching her; she just looks so beautiful, so peaceful when she's sleeping. He's so proud of how far she has come. She was once a fragile soul who pretended to be strong while keeping the real Kate hidden behind a wall, but now that wall is nothing more than a distant memory. It hasn't been easy, but he wouldn't change a thing. Everything they've been through to get to where they are now has been worth it. And sure, she hasn't said those three words yet, but he doesn't care because it's written all over her face especially in that smile that is only reserved for him. He knows one day she will say it when she's ready. And when that day comes he will treasure that moment forever.
"Stop staring Castle, it's creepy," she mumbles, voice muffled by her pillow yet still startling him. He looks down at her and she stirs pulling the comforter up around her a little, her eyes still closed. He smiles and wants to say I love you to her, but he doesn't because he doesn't want her to feel pressured to say it back. Instead he slides back down into the bed. As he settles in next to her she rolls over and snuggles up to him and her right hand comes up to rest over his heart. This was truly a Valentine's Day he would never forget and even though his plans didn't go quite as he had planned, it didn't really matter in the end because nothing he could have given her would have been better than her gift to him. The drawer was so much more than just a drawer; it was her saying I've got both feet in, I'm in this for the long haul.
With that thought he wraps his right arm around her right shoulder and pulls her closer to him, leans over and presses a light kiss on top of her head.
