AN: This is my first fanfiction so I thought it would be best to stick with the typical "Divergent High" story. I'm going to be making it unique though (especially and the beginning!) and I won't be doing anything that I've seen so far.
INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW:
1. The first chapter of this is written the last day of Tris' 7th grade school year (she's 13)
2. She's going to Abnegation Middle School like her parents did.
3. There are five Middle School's (Abnegation, Candor, Dauntless, Erudite, and Amity) that feed into Chicago High School.
As I walk down to the principal's office I can't help but remember everything that I've done wrong in the last year. There was ditching half the day because the substitute just let me, and that food fight I had accidentally started in the cafeteria a few weeks ago. Oh, and that time "accidentally" elbowed someone in the gut because they were in front of my locker.
I make my way to the front office and head straight for the principal's door-I've been here a few times before. Just as I'm about to knock on the chestnut door, right below the plaque engraved with our principal's name, the door opens.
"Please have a seat Miss Prior," he says, as he sits down at his desk. There is an air of superiority around him, even though that is not the nature of the Abnegation.
"What did I do this time?" I question, making sure the hint of annoyance in my voice is clear. It's the last day of school and I was just called down to the principal's office.
"Nothing, nothing don't worry," he says. Then there is a pause, but I don't say anything because I can see he is collecting the information he wants to share with me.
"As you may have noticed, Miss Prior," he continues, "You excel above everyone in your grade, and for that matter, the school. After a lot of discussion about your current placement we decided it would be best for you to move to high school early."
"What?" I say, all sarcasm gone from my voice, only to be replaced by confusion.
"Instead of going into 8th Grade next year at Abnegation Middle School you'll be put in as a Sophomore at Chicago High School."
"Do my parents know about this? Will I have to choose a faction then? Why a Sophomore?"
"Yes your parents both know and they both feel it would be best for you. You will have to choose a faction along with the other Sophomores, even though you won't get your Freshman year to decide. We put you in as a Sophomore because we believe that you are ready."
"I'm in."
