Something I wrote whilst waiting for my Pottermore welcome email. God dammit, where are you?
Remus found Sirius sat rigid on the sofa in his living room. His arms were wrapped tight around himself and he was staring blankly at the wall. Every now and then his lips would mutter silently. A more broken man Remus had never seen, even in the mirror. He cautiously knelt down before Sirius and placed a hand on his knee. He had never seen his friend look so pale.
"I came as soon as I could," Remus said softly.
"Oh God, Moons. When I found out... I just... I can't..." Sirius whispered.
"It's going to be all right, Padders," Remus assured him.
"It's not," Sirius insisted, "Nothing will ever be all right again."
He made a strangled sound.
"Prongs. James. Our James. Pregnant," He whispered.
Remus paused. "Technically it's Lily that's pregnant," He pointed out.
"Whatever. God, that bitch! I hate her," Sirius cried.
"Sirius!" Remus gasped, "You can't say that."
"I can. I can, I can, I can," Sirius wailed, "Nothing will ever be the same again. It'll be 'Sorry lads, I can't come out, I'm baby sitting little... little... Ermintrude.'"
"I'm sure that won't be the case," Remus assured, the corners of his mouth twitching.
"I just thought it'd always just be the four of us, you know?" Sirius sighed, "When Lily came along I accepted that, I didn't mind, I thought that'd be it, and now... now she's reproducing." Sirius looked horrified.
Remus wrinkled his nose. The word reproducing always made him feel a little ill. He got up and went in to the kitchen to make some tea. It was what his mum always did, and it seemed to work. Sirius began pacing the living room. Remus passed him a mug of tea and waited for the effects to kick in. Sure enough, Sirius seemed to calm down.
"I suppose it's a good thing, in a way. We can carry on the Marauders legacy. Somebody to pass the map down to, and the cloak," He said finally.
Remus nodded. "Yes, yes, of course," He agreed.
"And Prongs sounded really happy when he told me, and I don't want him to be unhappy," Sirius went on.
"Neither do I," Remus chimed.
"Who knows, it could even be fun. Probably not if it was a girl, I mean Lily wouldn't want its dress to get dirty. But if it was a boy... God Moons could you imagine the adventures!" Sirius cried.
"I can, right on my peripheral vision," Remus said.
Sirius suddenly looked over joyed. "God I'm such a prat. I'm going to meet up with James right away, let him know how happy I am for him!" He announced.
"I'll come too," Remus said, now thoroughly relieved.
He watched Sirius run to get his cloak like a child being told he was being took to the sweet shop, wondering if he'd ever be able to understand the brilliant, slightly addled mind of Sirius Black.
