Sadness gripped him like frost grips onto a tree, or a cat's claws to furniture, a dog's teeth into a bone, a burr on fabric, or even cold water on a body. Betrayal followed it, nearly making him scream out in pain. He wasn't in physical pain, no. But inside, he was broken.
Anger was next in the path. Anger at himself. Then, the feeling of being stupid. How had he been so foolish? He should've seen it coming. Yet he didn't. Hatred raced in his mind. Self-hatred to make things so much better. Depression followed suit, and more emotions, more and more and more until he felt he was going to explode. Shaking his head, he stepped out of his capsule, making sure he didn't wake his brothers or sister and stepped out of the mentor's headquarters. He walked and walked, going to the edge of the island to think.
Stars glimmered in the sky, their bright white lights shining and shimmering, reflecting on the ocean. The moon was full, big and silver. It was all so..Peaceful.
That feeling didn't last.
"Idiot."
"You've made so many mistakes."
"Douglas should've never created you. What was he thinking?"
"Waste of air."
"Waste of space."
"That's not a human, that's a bionic mistake."
"He's just a waste of bionics."
"Loser."
"He should just kill himself, life would be way easier."
"Life would be better with only three bionic humans and their students. We don't need that thing."
"I can't believe he's still alive. You'd figure his father would tell him to leave by now."
"He deserves death."
"Why is he still alive?"
"He just takes up space in the world."
"Kill him."
"I hope next time he goes on a mission, he won't return."
"Fat."
"Ugly."
"Stupid."
"Foolish."
"Child."
"Freak."
"Robot."
"Cheater."
"Mistake."
"Jerk."
"F*g."
"Gay."
"Pathetic."
"Waste."
"Die."
Breathing in, he nodded. His thoughts were right. With that, he drew in a sharp breath and walked back in the academy. He walked to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Slowly, his fingers wrapped around the knife and he brought it up to his chest.
"Goodbye, have fun without me. I hope you all gained what you wanted." Stab! Bullseye.
Then, Chase Davenport fell to the ground, never to breathe again.
