gah i had to do it! i had to do a rachel/percy one-shot about when she kissed him in paul's car! you guys know i ship percabeth to tartarus and back, but i had to. oh, and i don't own pjo.
summary:
"luke was the traitor and he went to elysium; the gods won; annabeth and percy started dating. hades, even clarisse got a boyfriend. somehow, in some crazy, fucked-up way, she got the short end of the stick." It started in a Prius. Percy wants to forget it ever happened. And the fact that it was the day Beckendorf died doesn't help. But Rachel doesn't want to forget. perchel/percabeth one-shot capitalization is on purpose.
they were fifteen. it didn't matter.
it shouldn't have mattered.
and sometimes she wishes she wasn't the oracle.
she wishes she was a certain blonde-haired, grey-eyed, beautiful, daughter of athena.
but she isn't.
she's a frizzy, red-haired, green-eyed, rich, oracle.
some could've called it an obsession.
the way she would take pictures of percy, annabeth, and her from the big house and cut out annabeth.
she's hang them on her walls, waiting, hoping, for the day when percy left annabeth.
but deep down, she knew he wouldn't.
they've known each other since they were twelve, and percy would do anything for annabeth.
he fell into tartarus for her.
and then again, he also tried to kill rachel at the hoover dam.
his step-dad's prius was where she had her first kiss.
and somehow she knew it wasn't percy's.
she could see the way he looked at annabeth in the labyrinth- he'd stare at her with this lost puppy look and grin like an idiot when he was with her.
percy never once looked at rachel like that.
and he never would.
but there was one time, just one, when he almost did.
but then beckendorf came swooping down on blackjack.
she shouldn't have blamed him. it wouldn't matter anyway.
he was dead. and so was his girlfriend.
in a way it was justice.
blame a dead guy for ruining your almost chances at getting a boyfriend; have the guy get a prettier, smarter girlfriend.
she didn't think it was fair- how everyone got a happy ending but her.
she felt like richard when rolanda dumped him for a guy she stalked (a/n search wasabi production's "22" by taylor swift parody).
luke was the traitor and he went to elysium; the gods won; annabeth and percy started dating. hades, even clarisse got a boyfriend.
somehow, in some crazy, fucked-up way, she got the short end of the stick.
but, then again, she knew that. she was the oracle, after all.
slowly, she got better.
she stopped stealing pictures from chiron and mr. d.
yet, she was still infatuated with the idea of being with percy.
she kept thinking the fates were punishing her somehow.
they'd send her visions of percy and annabeth.
them having sex for the first time; getting married; having kids; growing old.
she'd never get that, no matter how much she wanted it.
so when percy invites her and annabeth and a couple of other campers to go to montauk with him, she goes in the prius.
the same one she kissed percy in.
but only now, she's in the back with travis and katie, watching percy kiss annabeth instead of her.
it's fucked-up in a way- how it's annabeth now instead of rachel.
in the same car. in the same place.
yeah, in a way, the fates were punishing her.
