Pairing: Bobby/Alex if you squint

Disclaimer: So they are mine all mine. Then my alarm clock went off and I had to rejoin the real world were sadly they aren't.

Bobby had really stepped into it this time. He had offered Alex any support he could give her after she had broken down to him in the hospital. So here he was at her sister's apartment for dinner, because Alex said she couldn't do it alone. They had been the first to arrive and Travis had been crying his head off. Alex deftly unhooked him from the car seat and just cuddled him. The change was immediate, in both. Travis calmed and quieted, and Alex well she looked as if the weight of the world had been lifted from her shoulders. Bobby didn't think that made sense but he was willing to go with it. Taking his jacket off Bobby stepped behind Alex placing his hand on her shoulder; easily shifting the baby around Alex took her jacket off as well.

"Thanks Bobby, in my rush to make sure Mr. Baby was ok I forgot to take it off. Isn't that right little bit?" Alex cooed the last part to Travis who gurgled back to her then fell asleep. Janie appeared from what Bobby figured was the kitchen then.

"Alex, good you're here early, Thomas and I have something we need to talk to you about." She said mysteriously disappearing back into the kitchen.

"Bobby I hate to ask but would you take him so I can find out what's so important?" Alex asked quietly in deference to the sleeping child. Bobby took Travis and sat on the sofa resting his right ankle on his left knee placing the baby in the crook of his arm.

"So, it's just you and I little bit, you know your Aunt Alex misses you very much, but she will always love you. Maybe one of these years I'll get my head on right and you might just get a cousin." Bobby solemnly promised the sleeping child.

Alex quietly listened as Janie and Thomas outlined how they had made her guardian of Travis if anything should happen to them. She started to protest knowing it fell on deaf ears and finally gave up seeing the bigger picture.

"Ok, is there some paperwork I have to sign?" She said knowing she would do anything for that little boy.

"No it's written in our wills, if God forbid something does happen, our lawyer would explain everything, and you would sign adoption papers then. So you have nothing to worry about, because we intend to be around for a long time." Thomas finished standing behind Janie resting his elbows on her shoulders.

"Now go find out what Bobby wants to drink before we look like bad hosts." Janie shooed her sister out the door.

"We're doing what's good for Travis Jay; you know Alex would love him as much as we do. Look at them," Thomas said ushering Janie to the doorway, "do you remember in the hospital when I took the picture of her holding Travis she sent it straight to Bobby. What does that say to you?" He asked quietly as they stood looking out the crack in the door. Alex had joined Bobby on the sofa and was leaning into him to coddle the baby. For all intents and purposes they looked like a happy family.

End. This is for LadyBrin, who requested a sequel of sorts to Pseudo Proud Papa. I decided to tie it in with my Series Raising Travis. So it can be considered a prequel of sorts to that.
