Cold's True Power
Freeza had just been vaporised by the new arrival. Purple hair turned gold, he diced Freeza up and disintegrated the remains with a ki blast before setting his sights on King Cold. Cold's mind was racing to come up with a plan to deal with the lavender-turned gold haired youth in front of him before he realized the boy was speaking to him.
"Transform." Trunks commanded.
"Pardon?" queried King Cold.
"Transform," repeated the boy. "I've heard your kind can transform and I want you to be at your strongest when I kill you so transform."
Trunks may have come from a dark future thanks to the androids but there was still a little of Vegeta's ego in him, pushing him to prove his strength. He heard about the transformations in Freeza's family and wanted to see if Cold could give him a fight.
"… There seems to be a misunderstanding here. I can't transform," replied Cold.
"What? But I thought your kind developed transformations to control your power because your original form was too strong."
"Yes and this is my strongest form. This is my original form. I can transform into a weaker form if I choose but I don't think that will be of much use here."
"But you look like Freeza in his second form."
"So?"
"Well, I just assumed that you were in your second form too and therefore had two more transformations to use."
"If I had more forms to use don't you think I'd have used them by now?"
"I thought maybe you didn't have the chance, so I gave you one."
"Boy, I had plenty of chances to transform. When you were turning my son into mincemeat, I could have transformed. When I first arrived on this planet, I could have transformed and most importantly, during the journey to this planet I could have transformed. Do you know how long this trip took?"
"Well…"
"Do you know how long ago it was when my son was cut in half on Namek?"
"A year I think."
"Yes, a year. Seeing as I was able to reach my son in time to save him you can deduce that I didn't take too long to get there. That means that my trip here took almost a year. Do you really think I saw my son's form, found out he was made that way by a Super Saiyan, and thought to myself "Hey, my son's full power wasn't enough to save him. I'm sure I'll be fine in this form even though it is weaker than Freeza's full power. No need to transform."? Do you really think I would stay in this form for a year even though anyone with half a brain could see this level of power would not be enough? I wouldn't even set foot on this planet if it wasn't for Freeza. I wanted to blow the planet up from orbit but Freeza insisted on fighting the Super Saiyan face to face. If I had more transformations to boost my power I would have done so and overruled my son and blown the planet up."
"Oh. So this is as strong as you'll get?" asked Trunks.
"I'm afraid so Mr Super Saiyan."
"Disappointing."
"Indeed. I have a request. May I see your sword?" inquired King Cold.
King Cold extended his palm out. Trunks didn't see the harm in indulging this one request. He handed the sword to Cold.
"Thank you. Ah this is some fine craftsmanship. Too bad," said Cold, before promptly shattering the blade.
"Hey!"
"Perhaps I should have tried attacking you with your sword but I have pretty much given up by this point and wanted to spite you. I doubt the power is in your sword but it was worth a shot and I at least managed to annoy you."
Trunks promptly obliterated Cold with a ki blast.
"Dick. Oh well," said Trunks, proceeding to blow up the Cold Family spaceship.
"I might as well introduce myself to the gang now," Trunks decided.
He yelled to the group, "I'm going to greet Son Goku now. Won't you join me?"
