"This fate was unavoidable," That's what Masahiro kept telling himself. He devised a prophesy. Knowing fully when the seal would break. That knowledge would be passed to his children. Kept hidden in a temple that each generation was to go to and read a scroll. One that held the prophecy, and the date of the seals fulfillment. But he also made it so that only those with the second sight could read it. A gift that his successor would have. He was sure of that.
He raised his head and looked a little to his right. "Is there something you wish to speak to me about Genbu?"
The small dark haired shinigami materialized next to me as he sat. Before looking at me. "Yes. What are you doing? You've been writing for several hours."
"Before that, how is everyone?" he asks looking over at Genbu. Who nods.
"They are all quite well at this point. The wounds were yes extensive. But now several are getting restless." Masahiro nods, a small smile appearing on his face.
The one getting restless, but was being kept in the spirit realm was probably Seiryu. He had taken it upon himself to keep an eye on Guren. Who currently was laying next to Masahiro, in his mononoke form, with one eye open. Him very awake at this point.
"Fetch the others for me would you? I've something I must speak with them about." Genbu nods and dematerializes.
Masahiro turns back to the scroll and sees an ink blot and let's out a frustrated sigh. Before setting the scroll aside and rewriting the scroll again. He'd never been that good with calligraphy. But he could do what he could. Which was keep trying.
After he started rewriting the scroll, The twelve shikigami materialized at various locations throughout the room. "You wanted us Masahiro?" Tai'in asked as she knelt next to the aging onmyouji. He nods.
"Yes. As you all know, the seal I placed is temporary. It will fade over time. I know the date. The knowledge shall go only to those in my line with the second sight. As I have placed a seal over the parchment. This one only allowing those with the sight to see beyond it. I also must ask all of you to do something. I've set up shrines. I don't ask you to seal yourselves inside. But I ask you to make it so that only when you are summoned through the shrines you materialize there. Then allowing yourselves to become the shikigami of the one who summons you. These shrines are carefully hidden. So that a simple wanderer is not likely to stumble upon them. As well as a barrier placed around them. These barriers created with a specific spirit in mind. I will show you to your shrines in the morning. For now, I must rest." the spirits nod understanding then leave.
Mokkun, otherwise known as Guren, looks at him. "And what of me Masahiro?"
"You will be the guardian of the family. I trust you with my own life. I feel I can also trust you to successfully protect my family as well."
"I'm pleased to know you trust me with such a task." Masahiro smiles at the little white mononoke before standing and going to his room to sleep for the night. However, he doesn't live thru the next day. He died on the walk home with Guren.
