Bittersweet

By Ayuki Samiko

Life was officially very cruel.

A girl was standing outside of the LaGuardia Airport, waiting for her tardy dad. Her pink hair swayed to the breeze and her emerald eyes shown like a cat's eyes in the dark. She was impatiently tapping her watch, looking around every few minutes or so. A duffle bag was resting at her feet.

"Sakura!"

"Dad, you're late."

"Sorry," Sakura's dad said sheepishly. Sakura just sighed, since she was pretty much used to his tardiness.

"Sakura, come on," her father called with her duffel bag, "we're going to be late."

"Late for what?" she thinks. Sakura hurried after her father and climbed into a dirty white van.

Sakura and her father were Japanese, while her mother was American. Her parents had divorced a year ago, and they each parent had taken care of Sakura for one year.

Sakura's father had stopped the car outside a gigantic house. No, it wasn't a house, it was a mansion. "God! Are we going to live in this?" Sakura thought excitedly.

"My dear friend! I see you're back with your daughter." A stern-looking man exclaimed. Sakura just looked very confused.

"I see you haven't explained yet. Then, allow me the honor of the introduction and explanation." the man pleaded.

"I am Uchiha Fugaku and I am the owner of this house. Your father and I are colleagues and I invited him to stay with us. I mean, this house could definitely squeeze in a few more inhabitants," he paused and then continued, "I hear you will be attending a Japanese school and coincidentally, my youngest son goes there too. I hope you guys will get along well."

"Itachi, go get your mother and brother." Mr. Fugaku said.

"Ohayo! Long time no see," a woman said, supposedly Uchiha Mikoto, Fugaku's wife.

"What are these people doing here?" a voice was heard.

Sakura turned around to see a boy, about the same age as her. He was handsome, completely flawless, with his onyx eyes and black hair. Sakura tried very hard to suppress her blush as the boy looked at her.

"Pink hair, green eyes. She's pretty cute. And she looks a bit familiar…" Sasuke, the youngest son thought to himself distractedly.

"Sasuke, say hello to the Harunos."

"Ohayo," Sasuke said emotionlessly.

"Sasuke, please take Sakura to her room and show her around the house."

"Hn." A sharp voice penetrated Sakura's daydreams.

"Huh? Oh, hai!" Sakura shouted, running to catch up.

"Aa."

"Arigato, Sasuke-kun."

Sasuke-kun? Where the hell did that come from?

"Hn."

"Are words other than 'hn,' or 'aa' too big for you vocabulary?" Sakura suddenly asked in annoyance.

"Aa."

Sakura sighed and left him be, shutting the door in his face.

God, he's drop-dead gorgeous.

"Yeah…" Inner Sakura sighed dreamily.

Oh, I just remembered something. Sasuke's room is right next to our room which means…

"Good night, Sasuke-kun!" Sakura yelled suddenly.

Damn, she's annoying.

"But cute, eh?" Inner Sasuke sighed dreamily.

"Hn, good night," Sasuke couldn't stop himself from answering.

A/N: You could say this was kind of a filler chapter. I know, it's started out pretty boring, but this is only the first chapter right?

Another A/N: I'm really sorry for the readers of High School Adventures. I know it's like been a long time and I still haven't uploaded the next chappie. My apologies! Since school is going to be over in 3 days, I'll be uploading more often.

Au revoir,
