Alex said many terrible things about God. Ever since he was ten he put his name in vain, made disgraceful jokes about Jesus. But now that he was nineteen, he thought back on his mistakes, how foolish he was and felt ashamed. His mind also flashed back to when a horrid boy said to him God never forgives. Once you've done something bad, it's Hell for you.

Alex sat in a meadow of flowers and started to cry, thinking about his doom.

"Oh, young child," said deep rich voice from behind him. "What makes you cry so?"

He turned to see a great lion. He felt terrified, but there was something about the lion that didn't seem dangerous. The eyes mostly. They were like looking into the eyes of the good lord himself.

"I am crying," said Alex, "Because I have sinned the Bible and Jesus many times as a child, and now I'm going to Hell for it."

"I have seen you committing such treachery," said the lion. "And I can read your feelings. You are very sorry for your cruelty."

"How can you tell my feelings?" said Alex crossly. "Is this for spite to make feel better?"

"Spite is the worst thing to commit onto those who are innocent. There was a boy whom was far worse than you. He betrayed his family to evil, but he wished he hadn't. I had looked on him, and he is now a boy that smiles everyday."

"But wasn't he doomed?"

"He very nearly was," said the lion, "but I volunteered to take his place in death."

"But you are alive," interrogated Alex.

"A magic that was deep turned my soul back to my body," said the lion. "I come from a different world. I make everything there. The flowers, the seas, the sun, the skies. I am the great lion Aslan."

"So you mean to say that you are the lord of your world?" asked Alex.

"Yes," said Aslan. "But in this world, I have a different name though I do not speak of it. All I know is that I have watched you all this time. Yes you had sinned, but you are very sorry and you are therefore, forgiven."

"But I couldn't be forgiven for something that bad," said Alex.

"Realizing your wrong is your own punishment. You have punished yourself enough. I want you to smile through the everlasting summer days."

A glow raised and Aslan disappeared.

Alex felt something warm inside his chest. Relief? Hope? Love? The third. That lion was one to love. He knew how to bring the troubles out of people. Alex decided to keep this whole thing to himself. He felt like a new person ready to right all his wrongs.
