A/N: This is for Iris' Pairings to Die for Challenge! Sorry that this is late, Iris... *Grins sheepishly and rubs back of neck* But I hope this entry makes up for it! I've been tossing this idea around for months, because I loved it, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.

You're different.

Different height.

Different age.

Different bone-structure.

Different gender.

Different life.

Different upbring.

Different teams.

Different ways of dealingwiththings.

(*)

But you're the same, too.

You both like loud, "move your body" music.

You both have strong bodies for your ages.

You both have secrets.

You both have fathers that have odd ways of showing their love.

(*)

The difference in your similarities?

He alwaysalwaysalways listens to his father.

You nevereverever listen to yours.

(*)

They say life for each person is different.

And you took that to a

You hated each other.

He crushed you next to a window

while his father took your charges into his own hands.

He never really had anything a g a i n s t you.

He just didn't particularly l i k e you.

(*)

He was in denial the one time you got to talk with him.

On the train, do you remember?

He was grumbling about his father,

and you couldn't help but ask what his problem was.

He got you.

But he didn't win.

Right?

(*)

"My father," he grumbles to you, wondering why

he's even answering.

"He's a big dude. You live with that?"

"Yeah!" he snaps defensively. "What of it?"

"Don't you get tired of being bossed around?"

You smirk slightly. "He doesn't seem to say

'please' or 'thank you' much."

"He's a great dad..." He shifts uncomfortably. "He just...-"

"He doesn't have the 'father' thing down, does he?"

He looks at you in shock. "How did you know?"

You look away. "My dad's the same way. How else?"

"He's all military-style too?" he asks, eyes wide in amazement.

"Well, no," you say, blinking, "but he's bossy. Pushy."

"Well, my dad isn't!" he snaps. "He's the best dad ever!"

You can't help but notice he doesn't meet your eyes.

(Liarliarliar)

"You don't sound to sure."

"Don't make me throw you off this train!" he barks quietly.

You give a soft "humph!" of displeasure,

sitting back in the chair.

(*)

That was the only time your similarity was brought up,

but you can't help but think that you established a

bit of a friendship with the one and only

And he can't help but think that he got a

bit closer to the single greatest au pair ever,
