Coming Clean

Disclaimer: The song belongs to Green Day, off the album Dookie. According to some other people it deals with Billie Joe's sexuality (he's bi). I thought it fitting. I wanted to do a Green Day songfic and I wanted a mild slash so here is their love child. LOL...enjoy

Sirius Black looked at himself in the mirror, taking in the dark head of hair and the eyes that had matured after the last years at school. They still shone with mischief. He ran a hand through his hair, unbelievably nervous. He was finally going to tell Remus how he felt. The bottled up emotions were frightening. Sirius had almost shouted that he loved him from the other side of the Common Room this evening. Better to get it out of the way.

He turned to see if everything was perfect. James and Peter knew of course, as if he could hide anything from them. There was only one other lad in the year that wasn't a part of The Marauders and he was a very studious fellow. They'd made sure he was in the library for this.

A soft rap on the door told him that Remus was waiting for him. Sirius nearly jumped out of his skin as he did, but calmed down enough to open the door. 'Hey.'

'Hey.' Remus spoke softly. 'James told me I looked like death warmed up and said I should take off to the room.' He rolled his eyes. 'Somehow I think you guys are together on this.'

Sirius raised an eyebrow as his only expression. He was mildly surprised that Remus knew that much and wondered what else the werewolf had guessed. 'Yeah, can you sit down, please?'

He nodded and walked into the room, noting the dim lighting and soft music playing. Sirius' bed had been pushed into the middle of the room and Remus sat cross-legged on top of it. Sirius didn't join him. He started pacing.

'Remus, we've been friends since the Hogwarts Express. I always hated the fact that James became closer to me than you did. We met first and yet I was so similar to James it was freaky. Now, every one of us has grown up and become men, I hope.' His eyes met Remus' and they had a sparkle. 'You have had your way with that darling Ravenclaw girl, haven't you?'

Moony shrugged, blushing under Sirius' gaze. 'No actually.' Feeling as if the time for truths was upon him, Remus blurted out: " I did with their Beater, though. He had a nice arse."

Sirius was shocked at this sudden admission from Remus. 'Well, I think we've all been there.' He shook his head, starting again. 'Anyway, Moony, what I wanted to tell you is that...Oh, here, I have a song.'

Recovering, he nodded and let him play a song. It was a mix of punk and rock.

"Seventeen and strung out on confusion
Trapped inside a roll of disillusion
I found out what it takes to be a man
Well, Mum and Dad will never understand."

'Did you write this?' Moony whispered to Padfoot, impressed.

'And sang it.' Sirius gave him a cheeky grin that lit up his face.

"Secrets collecting dust but never forget
Skeletons come to life in my closet

I found out what it takes to be a man
Well, Mum and Dad will never understand
What's happening to me.'

Sirius sat down next to Remus, taking his hand in his own. The gentle strokes relaxed both men. Remus sighed and looked up at him. A force inside his heart told him to kiss him. For once, both his heart and head were in perfect unison. He wet his suddenly dry lips and leant over. Sirius met his halfway and both forgot about the song playing in the background.

"Seventeen and coming clean for the first time
I finally figured out myself for the first time
I found out what it takes to be a man
Mum and Dad will never understand
What's happening to me."
