Neville and Luna: Garden

The bright noon day sun shone down on the little cottage, along with is occupants and the little side garden that was starting to look even more beautiful now that the end of spring was here.

Luna exited the cottage, carrying a few small chunks of raw meat, and made her way over to the side garden, where Neville was walking amongst their many plants and herbs taking notes and consulting one of many herbology books. She smiled at him as she carefully maneuvered her way to the edge of the garden that was closest to the beautiful surrounding forest.

"Seems the mandrakes are ready to be harvested already," Neville noted as he continued his walk through the garden, barely paying any attention to Luna since this was their daily routine. "Want to help me with them later?"

"Sure," Luna answered as she gently began to throw the chunks of meat underhand towards the edge of the forest, waiting patiently afterwards for the thestrals to come out and eat.

"Great." Neville finished up the rest of his notes before quietly making his way over to join Luna in watching the thestrals eat the generously provided raw meat chunks.

"They're truly amazing, aren't they?" Luna commented as she took a step closer to Neville, careful not to disturb, or scare off, the eating thestrals.

"They are." Neville gently, and lightly, wrapped an arm around Luna's waist, a soft smile gracing his lips as he did so.

They stayed there, like that, for a few minutes more and as they did they noticed a small thestral slowly come out of forest, following its mother, to eat the leftover scraps of meat.

"Someday," Luna whispered to herself quietly as she leaned her head against Neville's shoulder, not knowing that he had heard her and was coming up with his own conclusions to her meaning. "We should get ready."

Neville nodded, turning around and, taking Luna's hand in his own, making his way back to their cottage with her to prepare to harvest the mandrakes from their ever beautiful garden.

A/N: Sorry if this is a little short...I just felt like writing something like this and it just turned out this way. Also...the part about the raw meat is based on the scene in the fifth movie where Luna and Harry are talking in the forest and Luna's barefooted and feeding the thestrals. Enjoy. :D
