Disclaimer: I don't own Nikita or A Walk to Remember
Please review!
Nikita lies beside him in the bed, her brown hair falling over her shoulders. Michael sighs and looks at the wedding ring sparkling on her finger. A wave of nostalgia washes over him and for once, Micheal peels back the military mindset and lets the memories back in.
Michael has had so many names and faces, that his cover as a young military man with a wife and child is only one of the lives he has lived. However, like some lives, that one seems to cut deeper. His first life however, cuts deepest of alL; even if only in reference to his first real loss
Michael looks at the wedding ring and wonders if this time it was a mistake. Everyone he puts a ring on dies.
His...the original name slides through his head. It's a name that he will never utter again. The precious innocence of first love and the bitter taste of death mingle like blood against the name; it is too tainted, and too innocent.
His next life, after the death of the first, the widowed young medical student, is a military man. Percy takes him, and molds him. The medical knowledge is taken and twisted a thousand different ways; each way a better way to kill.
Percy stops the training halfway. Amanda plays her mind games, finds the name of his first love and uses it to shape, strip and form Micheal. Michael is put through basic training first, it makes him move like a military man. Then, he is stripped and stripped again, along with all the other assassin elites trained for infiltration into military units.
With his first breath of freedom, he tastes the stale air of a military complex. Micheal learns to like his job. He establishes a mandatory cover, a family, and his heart gets ripped out of his chest he finds himself falling in love again. They have a child. His wife agrees to name her Jaime; oblivious to its true poisonous meaning.
This slip cues Amanda to the fact that he is starting to break. She watches the cracks form in Percy's favorite model soldier over the years. Percy decides to pull the plug, he ends Michael's cover by the hands of a Division agent, and secures Michael's loyalty by the death of another family.
Micheal trains and trains. His past two lives melting into an emotionless killing machine. Micheal becomes Percy's right hand man, and Percy treats Micheal like a son.
The absentee father figure roll is filled to a degree, but in his heart of hearts, La... Micheal still misses the man who gave him life.
A girl named Nikita walks into Division and points a gun at his face. Michael's lives start to crumble around his feet at this point. Every thing changes, and she is broken, but he can see Jaime's innocence in the way she trusts him. Lan... Micheal thinks it might be love. Seven years later, he lies beside her in bed. Two families are lost and dead. A second chance at a love that was more than just a cover.
Micheal frowns, shifts his body weight and falls asleep, his mind full of memories.
Micheal dreams all night. He wakes up in a sweat when the dream version of Nikita looks up at him over Daniels grave. Dream Nikita lays flowers down on the three headstones of Micheal's pasts. She looks up and calls his name as he looks away distracted.
"Landon."
