Anna was bored. Her bestest big sister, Elsa, was sick and throwing up, so Anna wasn't allowed in their bedroom for a while because their parents didn't want Anna to get sick too. Two sick little girls were quadruply as bad as one. But Anna was going crazy by herself. Elsa had their dolls; Anna wanted her to have them so she wouldn't be sad, but still. The little three year old had NOTHING to do. Hmm. She looked around Mama and Papa's room, where she was playing. She saw Mama's vanity, and excitedly crawled up on the stool, desperate for some new toys. First, she made faces at herself in the mirror. So that's what she would like if she didn't have baby fat. Mama's makeup drawer was locked, unfortunately- Elsa and Anna has had so much fun that one day, but she guessed that Mama didn't want them getting into her makeup again. Anna opened the other drawers. Ah, look! Scissors! Anna wanted a haircut, but Mama was always busy whenever Anna remembered to tell her. She would just have to give herself a haircut. Hmm. How short did she want her hair? She like Elsa's long hair, but Anna had always admired those pretty foreign ladies with short hair. She held the scissors up to her chin. Yes, that was a good length. She snipped off one pigtail, and was about to cut off the other when Mama came back into her room. "Anna, honey, I know you're feeling lonely right now, so—ANNA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Anna didn't know what she did wrong, but Mama's tone of voice scared her so she burst into tears. "I was—I was giving myself a haircut because it's so hot outside!" Anna managed to blubber out. The Queen just sighed, and fingered her youngest daughter's pigtail- or at least, what remained. "At least this is somewhat fixable. Give me those scissors; let's go find the barber. I'm sure he'll be able to even up your hair." Mama looked at Anna with a tired sort of amusement. She picked her little girl up, and carried her down the hall, past Elsa's room, where the King was just leaving to go get Elsa a book. He chuckled when he saw his littlest daughters hair, and soon erupted into full on laughter. Anna just cried harder, but her Papa just smiled at her. "I think Elsa would be cheered up to see you, pumpkin. It would make her smile to see your latest adventures." Anna perked right up at her Papa's words. Who cared if one of her pigtails were gone if she could see Elsa? She wriggled right away out of Mama's arms and bounded into their shared bedroom. "Elsa! Are you still puking?" Elsa turned with a smile on her face when she heard Anna's voice, but snorted when she saw Anna's hair. "Anna!" she exclaimed, "Your hair! What did you do?" Anna suddenly looked flustered. "Oh, um, well, I was bored and wanted a haircut. But Mama caught me before I could finish," the little princess replied. Elsa smiled at Anna. "You look lovely anyway. Maybe I could get my hair cut too, to match, when I get better." Anna grinned at the idea.
