The life of Lois Lowery is one that can be describe as clever, witty and lots of exciting turns and adventure in her life. The Giver, "Jonas embarks on an adventure to save the world as he knows it. It's up to Jonas and the Giver" ( . ). This is the story that brought me to explore the life of Lois Lowery, one that is very interesting I might add.

Lois Lowry was born on March 20, 1937 to Robert and Katharine Hammersberg. Her father was a dentist and her family lived all over the world. This shows how early adventure was introduced into her life. Upon graduation she attended Brown University but left to start a family. She later returned to University Of Southern Maine and received a degree. She later divorced and moved to West Cambridge with her pets Bandit, that's where she began writing.

Lois Lowry became a famous writer for children and adults. She has covered many topics with her writings such as mental illness, cancer, the Holocaust and futuristic societies. Lowry was also a photographer, who created her own cover for the novel, The Giver. She throws her character into ever situation created in her mind, as though their experience is as real as it seems. She writes about real life situations that the reader can relate to. Over all, Lois Lowry will always be remembered as the women who brought reality to reading.
