Firepaw was hunting with Graypaw. It was the day after Sandpaw disappeared. No one knew what to make of it. Nobody saw her go. No matter how much she had annoyed Firepaw with her kittypet taunts, Firepaw still felt sad that she had gone.
"So, where do you think she went?" Asked Graypaw, who must have been trying to break his bad thoughts.
"Not sure, we could have a look now," Firepaw suggested.
"Sounds good. We can bring back some prey on the way back." Concluded Graypaw, and the set out towards Fourtrees to search.
It was not until they had reached the ThunderClan side of the river that there was a lot of blood and sand-coloured fur aroudn the bank.
"Great StarClan!," mewed Graypaw, "Was she attacked?"
"Looks like it," Firepaw meowed distantly, "we should tell Bluestar, and get some more cats to search with us."
"No, we should keep looking." Said Graypaw.
Firepaw was in no mood to argue, he just wanted to find Sandpaw. He was confused why he wanted her back so much, she hated him. But the Warrior Code states you must protect the Clan with your life. And Sandpaw is apart of ThunderClan. They set off down the river.
When they reached the end of it, they shocked almost to the core, to find Sandpaw's soaked, blood drenched body lying at the end of the river. But there was another cat. A rogue, from the looks of it. It was ripping Sanpaw's body apart. Maybe to hind the evidence. He was not eating the meat, though. That calmed Firepaw down a little bit.
Then the rogue turned around and hissed and began advancing on them. Firepaw and Graypaw ran like they had the speed of StarClan. But the rogue was catching up. The apprentices burst through a bush to slow down the rogue, it worked. They climbed up a tree just in time for the rogue to burst through and look savagely around. He didn't see them. He seemed to give up, and walked back to Sandpaw's body, to rip it even more.
"Well, we can't bring Sandpaw's body back to the camp with that mouse-brain ripping on it." mewed Graypaw.
"We'll tell Bluestar about Sandpaw. But there nothing more we can do," Firepaw replies softly.
"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here below the High Rock for a Clan meeting!" Announces Bluestar. All cats have come out of their dens, even a few kits. Everyone knew Sandpaw and was popular among the Clan. Her disappearance and death has come as a shock to all of ThunderClan.
"As all of you know, the apprentice, Sandpaw went missing late last night. Two of our other apprentices, Firepaw and Graypaw. Found her mauled body at the end of the river." There was an uproar of rage and grief. Bluestar continued after the yowls had died down, "A rogue had killed her late last night and put her into the river, letting her float down to her deathbed. Nobody knows yet who this rogue is," Bluestar dismissed the meeting and went to her den to sleep. But the rest of the Clan stayed where they were, silenced by grief. It was Brindleface, Sandpaw's mother, who broke the silence, "I'll kill him! I'll kill him if it's the last thing I do!"
