Ill sleep when I'm dead

Summary: This is a deleted scene from If I ever leave this world alive where Nolan wakes up after getting the vaccine for the virus. It's a story of family fluff with everyones favorite lawkeeper and Irathient. To give credit where credits due I got the idea after reading The well running dry by Zanza8, great story check it out.

To say Nolan felt like Shtako, well that would be insulting to understatements. He had just woken up and realized that he was in the quarantine tent, but instead of sick people, he was seeing people getting well. That's when it started to come back to him. He had just gotten back to town with Connor Lang carrying the vaccine where they were ambushed by Nizar and the irathients. But that was when the fever started to get worse and it was all a blank. He was trying to figure it out when he heard "Welcome back to the land of the living lawkeeeper, how are you feeling?"

He turned around to see Doc Yewll appear next to him. She was checking his temperature while Nolan responded "Incredibly sore, but apparently not dead. What did I miss?" While still checking over Nolan, Yewll said, "Everyone has been given a vial of the vaccine and should recover." She gave a sigh and continued with "However, Connor Lang is dead. Datak had arrived to late to save him, but he took care of the irathients and gave you the injection." Nolan felt a sense of sadness and nausea over the fact that Connor was dead and the fact that he owed Datak his life. Sensing Nolan could go for some happiness, Yewll told him he had a visitor and pointed to Irisa sleeping in a chair a few feet away from him. She woke her up and said "He's awake". Irisa woke up seeing Nolan looking at her and ran up to him giving him a hug.

"Easy Kiddo, I'm still sore", Nolan responded laughing, but gave a sound of pain when irisa punched him in the shoulder. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Irisa shouted. "Why did you wait so long to take the vaccine?", Irisa asked with a combination of Anger and hurt. Nolan saw the tears form in his daughter's eyes as he responded honestly "I didn't like the thought of you in a interment camp with the other irathients and wanted to get you out as soon as possible." He continued looking into irisa's eyes and said, "I wanted to make sure you were safe." She gave Nolan a smile and was about to hug him again when Yewll interjected with "You need to rest for a few days, ill check on you later" and left the father and daughter alone.

A few days had gone by and Nolan was walking down the streets of defiance enjoying the fresh air and bright colors where he saw a familiar shade of red catch up behind him.

"You should be resting." Irisa said showing concern for her father.

"I'll sleep when I'm dead," Nolan responded with enjoying the fact that Irisa seemed to have forgiven him after the whole Sukar mess

"You're an idiot."

Smiling Knowing that it was Irisa's way of saying she loved him, Nolan responded with "I Know". He lifted his arm where his Daughter gave him another fierce hug as they walked down the street. It was in that exact moment where Nolan felt he was on top of the world.
