Summary: Rain is an amazing thing.

Originally from my LJ. You can find me there under candycanearms.

It was gentle and yet strangely harsh, the rain tearing ribbons down the streets and sides of buildings; lightning crashed between clouds, ripping apart the heavens with deadly force. It was dark, save for those few moments of breathlessly heated intensity.

Clothes were soaked through and skin was damp with sweat, but Peter and Sylar ignored the feelings of heavy layers sticking to arms and chests and legs. The flesh was warm, the bruises were warmer, and the blood was fire, but the rain remained ice. Punches were thrown, missed, blocked; bodies were worn ragged in the heat of battle. Powers were used, but strength was weakening; energy reserves were ran dry.

Knees shook, breath was ripped ragged from torn, bloodied lips. A step was taken forward; Peter held his ground, unmoving. In a last effort of pure will, Sylar brought Peter to him, overpowering senses and rational thought. Lips met, blood was tasted, eyes closed – Sylar's hands found Peter's neck and held him there.

Peter moved his own hands up in panic to stop, but was unable to conform to his own thoughts; his fingers travelled to the dark hair on the back of Sylar's neck and settled there without harshness. Peter leaned in, opened his mouth for probing tongue.

It wasn't supposed to end like this, Peter thought. Not like this.

As it continued to rain, all thoughts vanished.
