The Court of the Crimson King
To Ergo Proxy the sky had shattered. Huge chunks of morose gray broke of and fell threatening the earths surface, but as they descended he could see that the sun was dissolving away the pieces of the shell that had stood so long as a barrier between life and its nurturing mother. The pieces that fell above him dissolved into something finer than dust, that could not be felt or seen by his hyper-potent senses.
His creator had bestowed upon him eyes that could see through kilometers of atmosphere, but yet by the time the desolate shell that had covered the earth during his and his kinds reign fell around his body he could no longer sense it. However there was something out there on the horizon that he could see and it called to he that saw his current environment very differently that of his proxy self.
Death subsided, Ergo was not who he was. It was only apart of his evolving consciousness. Ergo Proxy was not the reason to live.
His reason to live hovered out there on the horizon and she was racing towards him in the rush of winds that seemed to know his longing and the need for speed.
Vincent law saw the sky, saw it's blue depth through the breach in the shell and clouds. Yes, great big gray clouds that had once covered the sky like a sheet parted, forming into fluffy masses of heavy air and tiny particles of water that soon under the suns rays would let louse showers of rain the likes of which the earth had not seen for centuries. It would feed the earth bringing fourth new life.
Ergo proxy feared that he would dissolve away into nothingness, but he was also Vincent Law and Vincent Law was not a man who feared the sun.
...
"It's alright I hear his voice. I can see him too! Distance 11.07 knots!"
"What a troublesome man. There's nothing for it, we shall have to pick him up then."
"Yeah!"
...
This is the real world which we sought all this time, but I... need only to face it with Re-l and the rest.
Now that several thousands of humans have returned to the regenerated earth the real battle begins. For I am Ergo Proxy. The emissary of death.
