At first she hates him, understandably, he is her enemy, but he tells her a little about his past and for a moment she questions the kind of man he could be.
It is when she holds the weak form of an avatar in her hands that she quickly answers her own question, he betrayed her and as she sits there, not knowing whether she's crying from relief or from the dull feeling of her heart breaking and she knows her answer, because Zuko could never be a man, he's a monster, raised by monsters.
Katara doesn't know why this makes the pain worse.
Author's Note: I wasn't expecting that... I just sat down and decided I'd right something to do with Avatar, you know, because I've only got one story of it. No, sorry people, I haven't suddenly become a huge Zutara shipper, I still prefer Maiko.
