So my goal was to write one story for every episode, but since Altitude Sickness took me so much longer than I expected, I didn't have as much time for the second episode. But I started wondering what Parker was thinking while she was trying to figure out what was wrong with the hallways. It's much shorter than I expected, but I still like it. :)
This is what came of it. Enjoy!
I don't own Leverage.
Parker couldn't figure out what it was about these hallways that didn't seem right. It's not like the hallways were super cramped, so that wasn't the problem. There was that one thing, where people don't like small spaces. Claustrophobia! That's what it was. She didn't have it, that much she knew for sure. Small spaces didn't irritate her at all.
In fact, Parker relished the times she got to spend alone in the vents. The walls of the vents were so sturdy, so protective. It was like nothing could harm her while she was crawling around them. They were high up and she could often eavesdrop on others, whether that was on her enemies, random people, or even her teammates. She had overheard Sophie planning a birthday party for Hardison last time.
No, the size and space of the hallways wasn't what was off. These corridors were huge! Well, at least they were pretty spacious. But there was something wrong with them. They didn't feel right. It wasn't the furniture that bugged her, although the furniture was definitely funny. Who needed all these elaborate chairs and love seats and benches? It was totally unnecessary. Anyways, there was something else about those hallways that were throwing her off.
They weren't balanced. That's what it was! Normal hallways felt very balanced to her. They had stable, warm, comforting feel to them. The dimensions were always fixed. These corridors were uneven. After measuring the distance with her feet, she found that the ceilings were normal height, but the floor was wider than it should be. They made her feel insecure and unprotected.
She started inspecting the walls for anything strange. One of the lamps was twisted slightly. She went to straighten it, but when she let go it fell to the side even more so. Then a wall panel cracked open. Parker grinned. She knew exactly what was going on.
She needed Hardison's attention, though. He was too busy playing with his tiny computer.
"What's that thing, when people freak out in really tight spaces?"
"Claustrophobia?" Hardison asked, only half paying attention. "Baby girl, that is the last thing you need to worry about…" he trailed off, realizing that she was gone.
Good. Now he would follow. Parker skipped off down the secret passageway, ready to explore her new discovery.
That's what I've got for this episode. I know it was super short, but I did wonder what Parker's thought process was when she was examining the hallway.
