Usually Eponine liked parties, loved them to be honest. It gave her a chance to forget about her lackluster life of working two jobs, being a full time student, and training for track just to maintain her scholarship. It tricked her into thinking that her social life was comprised of more than just the ten minute walk with Marius from class to the café where he essentially ditched her for his precious Amis. Parties were the perfect place to get loose and hook up with someone, especially with the abundance of social lubricant that Grantaire brings in the form of booze. And with that in mind, Eponine has been going to every party Marius invites her to with the intent of getting him to like her, but to no avail. He usually chatted it up with a different girl each time they go out. At least there was alcohol, which in this case Eponine needed more of right now.

Like a woman on a mission, Eponine shimmied her way through the throng of drunk college students toward the table of refreshments. Her fingers curled around the icy bottle and touched something warm?

"Excuse me, but I think I got this drink first."

Eponine looked up and was met with the stuffiest and most pretentious looking person she had ever seen. He looked so out of place at this wild party, and she honestly expected someone like him to be holed up in his room studying for some exam or reading history books for fun.

"Well, Blondie, we touched it at the same time so I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown. Yeah, gong yi tan pai!" smirking as she stared defiantly at him.

"A what? Nevermind," Enjolras shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Judging by your obvious state of inebriation, you've already had enough to drink so I believe this bottle should go to me."

"What ever happened to ladies first? Hmm?"

"I believe that in a fair society, no one should get privileges based on gender, male or female," he replied coolly.

"And they say chivalry is dead," Eponine muttered under her breath. "Look pal, I've been having a rough week here. Cut a girl some slack and let her relax a little."

Scoffing, "Well it wouldn't be fair for you to get several drinks and for me to get none," he reasoned.

"This isn't communism buddy; we're not allotted equal shares here. You snooze you…Ah shit." Eponine's expression immediately darkened, eyes downcast and sullen.

"Hey are you okay?" Enjolras glanced at her in concern and followed her line of sight to the cozy couple just across the room. There stood Marius giggling and talking to a pretty blonde girl, who shyly grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers.

"You know what? You can have the drink," Enjolras pushed the now warm bottle into Eponine's hands. "It looks like you might need it more than I do."

Eponine merely nodded and walked away, leaving Enjolras to think that she might have left the party for good, but she came back with a hesitant smile and a plastic cup.

"There's enough of this to share."
