House: Ravenclaw

Year 1

Drabble

Prompt: [Object] Wand

Word Count: 484 words

It was about 12 inches long with a Dragon Heartstring core. It was the wand that held the power to destroy everything in its path. Made of finely polished oak and a leather grip; it had the all the beauty of the graceful tree it was constructed from. No one truly knew the origins or whereabouts of the wand; all they knew was that it was powerful, and everyone wanted to possess it. Voldemort especially, for he wanted to exact revenge on Harry Potter in the worst way. By killing his son.

No one knew old Voldy was alive, who would have believed it? Everyone saw him drop dead at the Battle of Hogwarts; so when Voldemort showed his face to Ginny Potter, she could not believe her own eyes. She was left speechless in the kitchen as Voldemort told her of his dastardly plan to nab the wand and go straight to the school to kill her son, Albus Severus Potter.

When Ginny regained her composure, he was long gone. He left no sign of being there at all. Was he even here? thought the frightened mother of three. "I need to tell Harry," she whispered to herself, as she slowly made her way to the door.

As she pulled up to the Ministry of Magic, Ginny sighed in relief. "At least this is still the same." So many things had happened before and during the ride, that she was glad to see something calm, organized, and not burning.

Ginny burst into Harry's office and started stringing sentences together. "Voldemort...our son...kill...wand of myth...burning buildings everywhere-"

"Don't worry Ginny, the fires are being controlled by the Ministry's finest wizards and witches. Now, what's this about Voldemort killing our son with the wand of myth?" said Harry in a worried, yet somehow calming, tone.

"Voldemort came to me and told me he was going to kill our son...in front of the entire school!" Ginny's worry came back quickly, but was soothed as soon as Harry took her to a seat and rubbed her back in calming circles.

"Now that we have gotten you calmed down, it will take a while for Voldemort to find the wand. So, we need to go get Albus to safety." Harry continued soothing Ginny and went on to say, "I will get the Floo Powder, if you can get to the front."

As soon as they reached the school, they raced inside to what was third period. They looked for the Transfiguration classroom, where Professor McGonagall, the Head of Hogwarts was teaching. They burst into the class, interrupting the professor, walked up, and asked if they could speak with her in private.

They were led into McGonagall's office and started talking. "Albus Severus is in danger," stated Harry as he paced the large Headmistress's office.

"What kind of danger, Mr. Potter?"

"The danger that followed me around for seven years."
