Sophie sighed. Another dangerous mission, another chance to die and never see any of her friends. Especially considering that secret she still hadn't told anyone...
Keefe smiled. "What's that emotion I sense, hmmm, Foster?"
Sophie blushed. She had been staring, she admitted to herself. "N-nothing. Probably just annoyance at you." Or I like you and was staring at your perfect face! she shouted in her head.
That had happened more times than Sophie cared to admit.
And this was one of the more dangerous missions she had been on. If something happened... She wouldn't even let herself think of the possibilities.
"Hey there Foster! You excited?" Keefe shouted, even though he was walking up to her and was at most a few feet away.
"Sure, Keefe. A little nervous though."
"Don't worry! You'll be back to us in no time!" Keefe reassured her, smiling down at her.
This is it. I have to tell him. Now.
"Keefe-" Sophie started. "I have to tell you something. Something important."
Keefe grinned mischieviously. "You finally admitting that you're in love with me, Foster?"
CRAP! WAS IT THAT OBVIOUS?!
Sophie licked her lips. "Well... yes. I - uh - I'm in love with you, Keefe."
Keefe smiled, but this wasn't his usual troublemaker grin. It was something deeper, something sweeter.
"Glad you finally came to your senses, Foster."
And Sophie lost herself in Keefe's kiss.
