Lillie Pipchinski had a rough day. High school was one of the worse things she had to endure. The worst part of it though was not just the work, but also her father. Lillie's father, Andrew, worked at the school as the Dean of Students and worked as a part time English teacher. Somehow if she did something wrong, her father would always be informed and would always have to lecture her on the way home. Lillie never liked it and she had always tried to come up with an excuse, but it would never work out. Andrew was always serious about how his daughter was doing throughout the day. At lunch breaks, he would always talk to her teachers to see how she was doing. If she was struggling or not doing well with her work, her dad would hold on to her cell phone and make her study longer than she normally did. That included working harder and not procrastinating with any of her homework.
And Lillie was about to experience yet another lecture from her dad, but one that he was getting annoyed with.
Lillie had just finished her second block class and headed for her next class. She glanced at her schedule and sighed.
"Biology, ugh." Biology was Lillie's least favorite subject. Whenever biology was next, Lillie just wanted to skip it. But she knew she couldn't do that. If she did, she would end up in serious trouble with her dad. So she gave up.
Lectures in biology were the worst. At least in Lillie's opinion. She hated lectures and always thought they were an excuse just so the teacher could just go on and on. At least lunch divided her time in biology so that was a good thing.
Finally the bell rang. Lillie quickly left the classroom and went to her locker to get her lunch bag. She was very hungry and very happy that she was able to get a break from biology class for a while. Lillie arrived at her lunch table. Her friends were already settling down to eat and others were on the lunch line waiting to get their food from the cafeteria kitchen. She pulled out her cell phone and thought it would be alright to do so since her dad worked at the school. But, big mistake.
"Lillie!" replied one of the teachers who was on duty. Lillie perked up and saw the teacher approach her. She was a sophomore teacher and knew Andrew very well. Lillie quickly snuck her phone away.
"Hand the cell phone over." ordered the teacher. Lillie began to get feisty a little. She didn't think it was fair that she had to keep her cell phone away. She thought she could do it since her dad worked there.
"I didn't have it out." replied Lillie. "I was just checking something on it." But the teacher didn't fall for it and took her cell phone.
"I'm handing it to your dad." replied the teacher and she left the lunch room to locate Andrew.
Andrew had a rough day as much as Lillie did. He was all over the place making sure everything was going smoothly and everyone was in their position and no one was misbehaving. That also included doing tons of paperwork. He was ready to eat his lunch when he saw the same teacher that had confiscated his daughter's cell phone, come in his office. He stopped and approached her.
"Andrew. Your daughter did it again. I caught her going on her cell phone." replied the teacher. Andrew shook his hood with disappointment. His daughter knew she wasn't suppose to have her cell phone out and just because he worked at her school, it did not give her any reason or excuse to take out her cell phone during the day.
"I'll talk to her. Where is she?" asked Andrew.
"She's in her lunch break now. I think after her lunch you should get her. It's better off and she'll be able to eat. Or whatever you want to do. I'm just suggesting." Andrew decided to agree and wait until Lillie was done with her lunch.
"Ok, I'll wait until she's done. A few minutes before the bell I'll come down and get her, then at the bell she'll come with me." replied Andrew and he took his daughter's cell phone from the teacher.
"Okay. If that's what your going to do." replied the teacher and she left.
Lillie's lunch break had started off bad. She was upset and now she would have to face her dad after her lunch break. She began to cry and ran into the bathroom. One of her friends wanted to go with her but, she knew it was best to leave her alone.
Lillie cried throughout her entire lunch period. A few minutes before the bell would ring, Andrew began to head for the lunch room. He had finished his lunch very quickly and locked everything up.
Andrew was not happy with Lillie. He sighed to himself as he drove toward the cafeteria. His daughter had gotten herself in so much trouble, and he didn't see any reason for her to do so. He knew Lillie wasn't suppose to have her cell phone out and Lillie knew the rule as well. Like all the other lectures he had given her in the past, he was going to demand for an answer.
Andrew arrived at the cafeteria and looked for his daughter. He didn't see her anywhere and asked her friends where she went. He figured she had ran away because she knew he was going to find her. But she didn't go far. Andrew was told that Lillie had gone into the bathroom next to the cafeteria and had been crying throughout the entire lunch period. He went over to where his daughter was, and called her from outside of the bathroom.
"Lillie! Come out of there now!" Lillie heard her father's angry yet demanding voice echo to her. She trembled with fear and knew she couldn't escape. If she tried, her father would be able to grab her. The only way she could try to escape was if she could start her engine and go very fast. Lillie had a good amount of speed and knew she could go faster than her dad. With a strong start of her engine and a low growl in her throat, she raced out of her hiding place and managed to pass her dad very quickly.
"Lillie! Stop!" ordered Andrew and he began to chase after her. Lillie raced through the hallway as fast as her tires could go. She ran for her life and didn't want to deal with her dad. However, in no time, Andrew was able to grab his daughter by her tire with his own tire.
"Your coming with me right now." replied Andrew, his serious tone sending a chill through Lillie's engine. She felt a huge lump in her throat and thought she was going to faint. Tears began to fall out of her eyes as she was now placed in the authority of her strict father. He took her cell phone out of his desk drawer and placed it in front of her.
"Realize what that is?" asked Andrew. He waited for his daughter to respond to his question.
"Yeah. My cell phone." replied Lillie in a voice that sounded as if she was annoyed.
"You did it again. Didn't you?" asked Andrew.
"Do what?" replied Lillie. Andrew gave her a sharp glare. She knew what he was talking about, but he knew she was just looking for an excuse to get out of it.
"You know exactly what you did was wrong." replied Andrew, "how many times do I have to tell you not to use your cell phone during the day?"
"I did not-"
"Lillie," Andrew's voice warned his daughter that she'd better not lie.
Lillie remained silent for a while. She was getting annoyed so much and it made her angry. She didn't understand why her dad was questioning her and keeping her for a long time. Andrew finally spoke and still had a tone of disappointment in his voice.
"Lillie. Pipchinski." He frowned at her and placed her cell phone back into his desk drawer.
"Okay so can I get my phone back now?" asked Lillie, her voice carried an annoying tone. Andrew glanced at her and spoke.
"You know the rule, I'm holding the phone until dismissal and on the way home we're discussing this." He replied, "now go to your class."
Lillie left her dad's office and went to her next class. She wasn't happy and rolled her eyes once she left the room. This was the type of personality Lillie had. She always thought she could do what she wanted to do since her dad worked at her school. But, Andrew had told her many times she had to follow rules and the fact he worked at the school did not give her any reason to violate any of the school rules.
Lillie arrived at her next class which was History. She didn't mind history and enjoyed it very much. She always understood the topic and aced every test she took. She was very smart and had gotten into several honor classes. Lillie never thought she would get this far in her education. However, there was still one obstacle she would be enduring once more, her dad's usual lecture about her cellphone.
When the afternoon announcements finally came on, Lillie was tired. She was exhausted and really wanted to go home. She was not looking forward to the ride home and just wanted to get her cellphone back. When the bell rang for dismissal, Lillie went to her locker. Her tires were sore from being on them all day and she could barely think about homework assignments that she had. She managed to figure out what she had and began to pack up her stuff. She grabbed her lunch bag and waited in the main lobby for her dad.
Andrew was still in the main office sorting papers and files. He was in a hurry to get to his daughter so he could begin lecturing her once they left the campus. Andrew contacted his wife to make sure she was alright. For the past few days, she wasn't feeling well and had a severe cold and for the past few weeks, he had been leaving work early to take care of her. However, it wasn't just his wife he was concerned about, it was also Lillie's newborn baby sister. Last year, Lillie had been told her mom was pregnant. She didn't like it and began to get figedty a little. There were times where she wasn't happy about it. Other times she was angry and would cry for hours. However, Andrew promised her that she would still be loved by her parents, but they would have to take care of her baby sister more. Lillie was able to adjust and a while later, her baby sister, Brielle was born.
Andrew had finally wrapped up sorting out papers and files. He went to the lobby and saw his daughter waiting for him. He had her cellphone on him and had managed to get his daughter's attention, despite the chatting everyone was doing.
"Let's go." replied Andrew, his voice carrying a serious tone. Lillie followed her dad outside of the school and once they were far from the campus, Andrew began to speak.
"Lillie, I'm very disappointed in you. This is not the first time I've had to lecture you. But, I'm getting tired of it. I shouldn't have to remind you that your not allowed to have your cellphone out at anytime of the school day. That includes lunch."
"I know." replied Lillie. Andrew shook his hood with disappointment.
"I'm holding onto the cellphone for the rest of the week." replied Andrew. His voice brooked no argument.
"Dad.." replied Lillie, as she began to protest her dad's choice. But, Andrew wouldn't tolerate it. The choice was final.
"No argument." replied Andrew, "you need to start working harder, studying for your tests earlier, and not procrastinating with your homework."
Lillie was about to protest more, but her dad sent her his serious look telling her that his choice was final. Lillie sighed and slightly rolled her eyes a little. She didn't like being in the same school where her dad worked. It always made her feel like she was being watched constantly. Lillie hated being watched, but she knew she had to deal with it and she also knew her dad watched her throughout the day because he loved her and cared about her future and wanted her to do well in school. That's why he was always strict and serious with her. Lillie remained silent the rest of the way home while Andrew guided them home.
