"Ty! Ty, come quick!" Amy screamed from the bedroom but she immediately regretted the decision. She couldn't tell him yet. This was going to require tact, a plan. But it was too late. Ty had come running into the doorway.

"What is it? You okay?" He looked worried and she felt horrible for the lie she was about to tell, if she could even come up with something he would believe.

"I'm fine. I… I… um. I just missed you." She didn't even buy it herself. There was no way he did.

Ty saw how worried she looked and took a few steps closer. "You're a terrible liar, Amy. What is it? You look terrified."

He was right. She was a terrible liar and didn't want to be a liar at all. But now was not the time to tell him what she had found out. She closed the last of the gap between them and wrapped him in a hug, letting her head rest against his chest. She could feel his heart beating faster than normal. Ty was worried. She had to tell him something.

"I jumped the gun. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have called you in here yet. I need to tell you something but it has to wait. Okay? Can you trust me on this one?" she said into his shirt. She could feel the reluctance in his body as he pulled her even closer but he nodded.

"Okay. But promise me you're fine?"

"Promise."

They sat in the trailer later that night for dinner. The tension much higher than usual but Ty was trying his best to make light conversation.

"I know it's not exactly gourmet but you've hardly your food. Do you want something else?"

"No Ty. Dinner is great. Thanks. I'm just not feeling very well." she said moving the green peas around on her plate with her spoon. Before he could respond she was out the door. He could hear her retching from inside.

Ty dropped his fork with a frustrated clatter and ran out after her. She stood up, rubbing the back of her sleeve across her mouth. "Amy, tell me what's going on. You've been acting strange for days, you look exhausted, now you're sick…" His voice trailed off as the realization struck him. She was pregnant. He knew in his gut that was it. She didn't have to say it. "Oh God… Amy." He watched her, not able to bring himself to say it out loud, shock written all over his face. He continued to stare for what felt like an eternity for both of them before he turned on his heels and walked away. She called after him but he kept walking.

"So much for tact." She thought before another wave of nausea had her retching again.
