Starfire would always be second.
She would always be the second sister. The oldest sister that was perfect despite the birth defect she was born with. She would never be as cunning and clever as her older sister, nor would she be as good as fighting compared to her. She would always be second after her sister. She was always competing for love and attention. She would be the second sibling, the second daughter. She would be second in line to the throne, even if she didn't really want it.
Because she was the second daughter, she would be subjected to years as a slave for the vilest people known in the Vegan system. She would be beaten, treated worst then the ground beneath their feet. She would undergo torture no one ever should. She then, she would be raped and finally when she had enough, she would kill the very same master who dared to touch her.
She would be captured with the same sister who sent her to be a slave by sadist scientists who didn't care if she lived as long as they got their research. She would be tortured again subjected to endless experiments days on end. Her body being pumped with the same energy she needed to live until she exploded from too much. She would escape from them and saving her sister with her new founded power. Would said sister be happy about her being saved by the second sister? No?
Starfire would be capture again by bounty hunters to go back to being a slave. Would she ever break the cycle? She would break out of her prison and fly to the nearest planet. The planet called Earth where she would find love, but still be second.
She be part of a legendary team called the Teen Titans. She would have found a place where she finally belongs with friends, but she would still be second. She would be the second female titan. Raven, mysterious half demon would be before her on this planet. Raven would get all the sayings before Starfire. She would be first to have ideas listen to, while Starfire plans be ignored because she was 'naïve' .
Robin would be her best friend. Her first best friend, his second. She would soon come to find out she would be his second everything. Second kiss, second love, second girlfriend. She would hear him talking about his first everything. Barbara Gordon or better known as 'Babs'. Starfire would soon come to hate this 'Babs'. She would hate her because she got to do what she wanted to do. Starfire knew it was a petty reason to hate someone, but she couldn't help herself.
Would she ever be first?
Yes.
She would be the first person in years to be allowed to call him Richard. She will be first person on the Titans to see him without his mask. She'll be the first person to ever truly know him. She'll be the first person he'll ever make love to. She'll be the first person he will tell that he is giving up the Robin persona and becoming Nightwing. She'll be the first person he'll ever kneel down to an utter the words Will you marry me? The first person whose eyes will meet as she walks down the aisle and the first person he'll ever have a child with.
Starfire decided then that being second wasn't all that bad.
This was a one-shot to help me getting back into writing. So hopefully more stories are to come!
