I don't own Avatar in any form. Not even a DVD. =(

A few days after she reaches the Earth Kingdom, Fire Lady Ursa collapses outside the small abbey. She is struck with a fever that no one can identify, but the Mother Superior is sure she has seen before.

The Lady, it is noted by all who see her, is pale and lovely, cold and clammy to touch despite the sweat that pours down her face. It is nearly nine days before she speaks. Mother Superior takes her a jug of cool water and as she leaves, a long, slim fingered hand clutches at her hem.

"Do you know," rasps the porcelain doll on the floor, wild eyed, "what it feels like to turn from mother to assassin?"

It is nearly two weeks before the Lady leaves. The wild eyes, however, stay.

A very old piece of work which I wasn't originally going to publish as I'm not overly fond of it. However, it's been an unusually persistent little plot bunny which has been revised and rewritten too many times to allow it to linger in my harddrive.

Constructive criticism would be very much appreciated, as ever.
