GENTLE AND PEACEFUL
hi hi! First Rozen Maiden. I finished everything recently, but I love it so much, so I had to write for it. Enjoy!
She was a kind soul at first. A little lonely, and a little weak. She smiled occasionally, and often wept bitter tears. She had been weak. And then she had been betrayed. By someone she loved almost as much as Father. She had been betrayed. Because she was weak, because she cried, and because she trusted that person so much.
She promised never to be weak again.
She bit back the words 'help me', and kept her name lodged in her throat. She had screamed it before and she hadn't saved her.
What would be any different now?
Sometimes she remembered that kind smile. And the way those blue eyes looked at her so gently. But then she remembered the way she had been secretly laughing. She hated it. She hated those memories.
She hated that fact that she had loved her at all. But she promised never to love anyone. Never again. Only Father because when she became Alice, he would love her. And he would hold her. He would smile at her and call her the perfect girl.
She had filled her head with dreams that this was true. She had helped her walk, helped her live, help her grow into the kind person she was. Her blue eyes were so gentle. She was jealous of her, she looked up to her, she wanted to be just like her.
She wanted her to love her.
But where was the use in that?
The dreams she was given, the life that she had, the power in her hands, she would not throw them away.
She had been gentle and peaceful once, a kind spirit, if not a little lonely. She had done everything she could to be something in her eyes. But that seemed to have gone unnoticed. She wanted Father as much as she wanted her.
Her pain was her new self. And she thrived off it because those smiles just weren't enough. Soon this pain and hate wouldn't be enough either.
She'd left her dreams behind. The day she was betrayed. The day she promised never to be weak again. The day she stopped loving her, at least, she tried to.
So she tormented her, just so she could see her. She loved her even though it wasn't fair.
It had never been fair.
She was sure that somewhere deeper, she had always been so hateful. It wasn't until she was betrayed that it was brought out. The lover for her had kept it down.
She used to be gentle and peaceful, waiting for Shinku to get home so they could practice walking, and they could laugh and drink tea together. She used to be so loving.
That was buried deep inside her.
