An assignment for my English class last year, we had to write a soliloquy in the POV of one of the characters of Romeo and Juliet. Enjoy.

Standing under the constantly shielding,
Motherly branches of the sycamore,
He is the example of a shameful being.
Dragging his feet, slouching his shoulders,
He gives up on life altogether.
How can anyone consider him a man?
Men who have nothing to live for,
Save for the chaste kiss of a woman,
Are certainly not men, but cowards.
Hiding from reality the rest face,
Shying away from all confrontation.
Standing beside the constantly present
Utter opposites of both himself and I,
Romeo, the possible culmination
Of our families' never-ending feud,
Sulks in the shadow of his friends,
Willing the day to come to an end.
O, I wish and pray to Jupiter himself,
That I shall be the one to thwart Romeo.
Shall be a favor to every Capulet
By extinguishing the fire that maintains
His unwanted existence!
