The bus came to a halt. I jumped off the top of the yellow vehicle and landed on the ground (I did of course land on my feet for those of you who were wondering). Dawn opened the back door and ran to me to engulf her arms around my neck… I felt a small pang of relief… at least Dawn; my sister was safe… even if he wasn't…
"I don't understand… Who did this?" My ex watcher Giles said… breaking the silence.
I knew the answer… it was him… "Spike" I managed to say. He was the one that saved the world…
"Yes my pet?"
My heart skipped a beat as I heard his voice… it couldn't be… I turned and there he was… in the flesh. I must as stared because the next thing I knew I heard him say
"Breathe, Slayer… Breathe. I'm here. It takes a lot bloody more than a little apocalypse for you to get rid of me" he smirked
I caught my breath and felt his arms go around me… his strong arms… he was still alive… or undead… whichever sticks your fancy… either way it was true.
"Spike" I said… that's all I could and he knew…
My mind raced to about twenty minutes before… we were in the hell mouth…
'I love you' I had told him.
'No you don't but thanks for saying it' he had said simply…
What are you supposed to say after that? I pushed that out of my head for right then… I'd think about that later.
I gave him a quick peck on the lips and smiled. He was a hero… The hero… he was the one that saved the day. The Champion that wore the necklace. I might still be cookie dough in the process of baking… But with him… I'm pretty sure I'd bake pretty fast. So maybe he was right… I might not love him yet. But give it a little time… I will, I'm almost positive. The twenty minutes that I thought he was gone has brought to the present. The apocalypse is now over… and all of the potentials are now slayers… there is no longer the chosen one, we know have the all of the above… I was no longer alone… which pretty much gave me the chance to have a life.
Spike's Pov
I went through hell to get back here. Literally. I didn't even get a bloody thank you… of course going to hell after just defeating brining hell to earth doesn't really earn you a trophy or anything… But you'd think that a nice bloody thanks would be acceptable. It doesn't really matter now. I was back and she was happy. She looked stunning… even after fighting hell… her eyes danced almost… like she just took on the world an won… in a way she did.
I turned to everyone who was staring at us… for once they didn't have a smart-ass remark. Which is nice, actually. They have finally, truly accepted the fact that I've changed… for her at least.
Niblet broke the silence. She ran toward me with a smile. "I'm glad your alive" she said… I knew I liked her for a reason… What can I say? That little punk had some spunk.
"You too Niblet, It'd be pretty boring round here."
"What exactly did you do Spike?" Rupert Giles asked.
"I stopped the apocalypse, Old Man."
"Well yes, quite obviously so, but how?"
I rolled my eyes and shook my head and began the details about how I exploded into a million pieces was sent to hell and got out…
