Prologue June 1988

Laurie Strode looked down at her sleeping daughter, Jamie. She lightly brushed the hair from the eight-year-old's forehead. After pressing a kiss to Jamie's cheek, she backed and closed the door. Walking downstairs, Laurie looked longingly at all the photos telling the story of her life since her daughter's birth. Whipping the tear from her eye, she told herself this was the only way to keep her daughter safe. She had to leave Jamie, let her daughter try to have a normal, happy life. She knew Rachel's family would take her daughter in and love her like their own. With them Jamie woud not have the stigma of her mother being Michael Meyer's sister. Hopefully Jamie can grow up without having the Boogyman legend taking over her life.
"Rachael, be sure to lock the door after me. Thank you again for babysitting on such short notice. When work called with an extra shift I had to take it." Laurie hated to lie and take advantage of the young girl in front of her. Memories of babysitting Rachael herself at that age rushed through her.
"Don't worry about it, I love babysitting Jamie, she's like the little sister my parents never gave me! Brady has to work tonight so this turned out good for me. I'm going to finish up some homework and the go to sleep. We'll see you in the morning."
Taking one last look around at the home she knew she would never see again, Laurie Strode turned and closed the door behind her. She heard the deadbolt click and the security chain slide into place. Effectively locking that part of her life away for good.
The tears started falling as she pulled out of the driveway. They continued to fall the whole way to the motel. Laurie sat in the car for a few minutes trying to collect herself. Casting one last look in the rear view mirror at her reflection, she climbed out of the car and made her way to room 24. Raising her hand she tapped on the door three times.
The door opened quickly "Hey,Laurie, I thought you may have changed your mind," John Winchester said as he pulled Laurie into the room with him.
