Naru walked down the halls of the academy, her head held high as she passed by a group of ninja-hopefuls in the same year as her. They glared as she passed, all dressed in some manner of pink. Sakura and Ino were in the lead as they stalked into the classroom.

Naru coughed as she was punched in the stomach. Ino sneered as she kicked the downed girl, while Sakura taunted her loudly. Both added a few more injuries before they left. Naru panted with exertion as she felt tears slid down her face.

"Demon! Kyuubi brat! You will pay for the lives you've taken!" The villagers screamed as they chased Naru through the streets, screaming insults and hate filled words. She felt the first of many projectiles as they hit her exposed back.

As she looked at her few precious people smiling at her from the audience, Naru took a deep breath. She was going to show them what she was made of. She would prove she was worth their acknowledgement, their respect.

"Mummy they call me names

They wouldn't let me play

I'd run home, sit and cry almost everyday

'Hey Naru, you look like an freak

With black whiskers you don't fit in this playpen'
