She didn't have a crush on a freshman.

She, Kairi Hikari, absolutely refused to have a crush on a freshman.

Especially on Sora Strife, who still had braces and untamed hair that stood up in all directions without the use of hair gel. Not to mention, she was fairly certain he had ADD.

And he was only fifteen, for Ghandi's sake - too young and way too immature - they would be on totally opposite planes of the spectrum.

And she'd be branded as a cradle robber for the rest of eternity.

But her friends think otherwise - they'd laughed and thought it was cute.

"Go for it," They'd said upon noticing a friendship bloom between the two. "Age doesn't matter!"

She'd stutter and splutter through the mess of panic running through her brain, trying to think of something, anything, that will get them off her back.

"It does matter!" She'd finally manage, mind spinning wildly at the uncanniness of the whole thing. "He's a freshman." Then she'd spout a bunch of psychological facts about how his brain was still developing and his choice making would be skewed and what would everyone else think?

Her friends just roll their eyes, shaking their heads at her flustered explanations.

Sora was just a young boy who she'd love to have as a little brother, she'd explain further, throwing her hands up in frustration at the looks she garnered from them. "Emphasis on boy."

Besides, he still had a baby face, along with a thin physique that hadn't quite filled out from his growing middle school years. And startling blue (cerulean) eyes often framed by chesnut locks.

Oh dear Ghandi, she didn't have a crush on a freshman. How many times did she have to prove it?

Sure, he was kinda adorable and taller than she was by a considerable amount, but she'd always been pretty short anyways. Sure he makes her laugh and was great to be around, but she thought that of having guy friends.

It didn't mean she like-liked him.

Of course, he was an amazing actor and a brilliant musician with a wonderful singing voice. And sure, she got flustered just being near him, and her brain scrambles itself to bits when he speaks to her. And sure, the times they do talk, he'd give her this lopsided smile that she'd find absolutely endearing - and maybe he just had this amazing personality and wonderful geeky, awkwardness that she'd always found attractive.

And yes, maybe if he was her age, she'd totally be all over him.

But she, Kairi Hikari - a Senior - did not, could not, would not have a crush on Sora Strife, a flipping freshman.

She at least refused to acknowledge the fact.

I have a few, uh, younger guy friends who I love in a platonic way. It's just that some people said some stuff and I got totally self conscious. But then I was like, "What if this happened to Kairi?" So, that's the background behind this story, I promise. Sort of inspired by true events. This just kinda got away from me. I thought it would be cute as a Sokai drabble.

Loved it? Hated it? Wanna flame it? Let me know.
