Ino's eyes traced over the strange black threads stitched across his chest and the ones that held his arms. She felt a strange feeling worming in her gut because those very threads had choked her mercilessly once upon a time."Don't think of him, he's gone. Concentrate on the man before you or he'll be gone too!"

The medic in her assessed the injuries on the golden haired man and found that to her relief, there weren't that many. It was just the collision that had knocked him unconscious. Deidara was fortunate that his Akatsuki cloak wasn't on his person otherwise she wouldn't have been so moved to help the collapsed traveller in the forest. She could already see that the area of forest had been completely decimated by an earlier explosion, created by the very person she was now pumping healing chakra into. Cool, green-tinged fingers pressed against the lacerations that streaked against his abdomen, patiently stitching the skin together with chakra, keeping her brow furrowed in concentration and willing her hands not to shake.

"You're awake," she began encouragingly, watching his eyes flutter open. What a vivid shade of blue. "There's nothing to worry about, I'm almost finished!"

Deidara was staring at her, his eyes wide and tried to locate a forehead protector but found none, however, she looked far too good to be a rogue ninja. He relaxed when he realised that she wasn't about to hand him over to ANBU (and her lasting even a minute against him would be overestimating her abilities).

She wiped the beads of sweat that had formed on her forehead and smiled wearily after she had finished bandaging up the last of his wounds and was reaching forwards to push his golden hair aside when he gripped her flimsy wrist out of reflex.

Ino was a little offended and hurt that he wouldn't trust her after she had used up all that chakra to heal him.

"Oi, what's the big idea?!" she snapped, frowning petulantly at him. "Is this the thanks I get for saving your life? Most people would be kissing my sandals right about now!"

Well… no… but still…

"I don't have any money," he shook his head, his lips an angry slope on his face as he tried to sort through the mess of memories in his head prior to being bandaged and found by a fwippy kunoichi.

"Well you have a mouth, don't you? What do you say?" Ino insisted, attempting to pull her hand back.

Instead, Deidara pulled her hand forwards, and with his other hand, gently pried apart the tightly curled fingers that had formed a fist, and placed a tiny daisy in her hand. Ino was staring at it like it was a masterpiece, Deidara thought otherwise (because it ought to blow up in her face if it was a masterpiece) but the 'mouth' comment had inspired him to give her the dopey flower. Girls liked flowers, right? She was such a typical girl.

"You didn't have to give it to me… next time, just say thank you."
