A/N: Ok, so, my previous fanfictions haven't been all that successful, and I'm hoping this one will be :D

Summary: Recent med school graduate, Edward Cullen, is assigned his first case in the real world. When Bella Swan attempts to commit suicide, after a long and abusive relationship, she falls into the hands of Edward.

As I stared down at my newest, and first patient since graduating medical school, my heart shattered.

The girl lay limp and life less on the hospital bed, dark purple bruises under her eyes. Her porcelain face was marred with the black ash of charcoal. Her stomach was being pumped by the look of it. The only sign that she was alive was the constant lift of her chest, and even that was from life support.
Up down, up down, up...

"So, Edward, this is your first case." My dad, head of intensive care unit, spoke up. "Miss Isabella Swan, took an overdose of sleeping tablets; diazepam, to be precise."

"Oh. Okay." I gave my best cave man response.

"And Edward," Dad began "she took it with alcohol." He said shaking his head sadly.

This was bad really bad. Alcohol makes medication that much stronger, it's one of the first things we learn in medical school.

This poor girl had tried to take away her precious life.

What could have made her take away -

"She was in an abusive relationship Edward." Dad whispered answering my silent question. "Anyway, I'll leave you to it. I'll check on you later, Miss Swan appears to be in a stable condition at the moment, but it could change in the blink of an eye."

He turned to look at me, gave me a sad smile, and said "I'm very proud of you, son."

And of course, Miss Isabella Swans stable condition, did change in the blink of an eye.

And it was one million times different than it was on a med school dummy.
