Everyone knows that I'm not the kind of girl who goes and cries over tragic break-ups. Really I'm not the kind of girl who cries in general. But look where I am now; Sitting on my bed, with a pint of cookie dough ice-cream, tears trailing down my face. Why? Because stupid Fang had to go and leave me. He just had to break my heart.

God, it felt like someone punched a hole right through me. No, actually I'd take a hole over this feeling any day. At least a hole would heal and the pain would end. There's nothing to end this pain. It just hurt to think I wouldn't walk out of this room and see Fang quietly brooding with the rest of the flock. Look what I'm doing! I thought. I'm actually crying over a break-up! This is what losing Fang reduced me to? I scooped up the last of the melted ice-cream before curling into a small ball. I heard a tentative knock at my door.

"Max?" a certain blind bird hybrid called. "I brought you some dinner."

"I'll get something later, but thanks anyway." I answered, my voice cracking at the end. The door creaked open and Iggy walked in right over to the bed.

"The guys are worried about you. They all miss Fang too. Angels trying to take charge again and Dylan keeps trying to get us to come and check on you 24/7. Nudge misses Fang and you and the Gasman is just down."

"Thanks for the field report." I quipped.

"My pleasure. Hey, no offense Max, but you look pretty bad"

"Thanks Iggy, you always know how to make me feel better." I said, my voice laced with sarcasm.

We sat in silence for a few minutes, being together. Then I just let go. I couldn't keep everything in my head. Wracking sobs shook my body. Iggy just held me as I cried my eyes out.

"I just miss him so much." I sniffled between loud pitiful moans.

"We all do. Fang is a brother to all of us. But the world hasn't ended, yet. We still have to save the world. We still need a leader and you're still here. Come on Max, pull yourself together. Do it for us?"

"I know. I will." I whispered between hiccupping cries. I leaned in and hugged Iggy. "But tell anyone about this experience and your eyesight won't be the only thing you're missing."

"Welcome back Max" Iggy said before walking out of the bedroom.
