Rivals
I can't ever let my guard down. I always have to be alert because you're so dang unpredictable. You're always there when I least expect it, so I can't let my guard down, even though I'm ahead. For now. I had to work hard to get ahead. I've always had to work hard. I'm not gifted. I'm not talented. Not like you. But I know you work hard too. I didn't always though. I thought it was easy. That's why I called you out. That's why we're rivals. You know, it's a great honor to be my rival, it means you're the best because that's who I target, strive to beat: the best. And you are. Even now. I'll never say it though, but you won't either because we both know and you're too nonchalant to brag, rival. You're also too kind to put yourself ahead of others, comrade. I guess it comes from being senseis, being in the summer of adulthood, but we seem to know a lot of the same things. We never have to discuss anything because of this. So why do we talk so much? Oh… I guess it's why do I talk so much. Hmm… Well there is something I should say, I need to tell you, but won't. Can't. And that's thank you. Thank you, best of rivals. Best of friends. I'll be sure to see you to the end, and when it ends I'll still be one up, one ahead. Alright? I can't underestimate you. Don't underestimate me. Because that's a promise.
