"Vulpix, flamethrower!" she cried.

I was annoyed.

That stupid human had managed to accidentally step on the tail of a houndour.

A houndour!

Could you imagine it!

How could somebody accidentally step on something which was right in front of her!

And before you ask, she is DEFINITELY not blind.

"Vulpix, I beg you, please use your flamethrower…" she was desperate and is now begging me, that houndour was only a few meters away from her, "We are suppose to be a team, aren't we?"

A team!

Could you imagine the greatest vulpix of all teaming up with a human, what's more, a stupid human!

I had rather team up with a caterpie.

But there she was, looking at me with pleading eyes.

And she had almost tripped over the stone in front of her.

I guess I must help her, I sighed.

I must stand by Vulpix code of honor: To help those who are weak.

Although she isn't exactly weak, but rather, clumsy, careless and stupid.

But still…

I stopped suddenly and turned towards the houndour, who was rapidly coming closer and closer.

"Thank you, vulpix." she said softly, "Now, use flamethrower!" she commanded.

The houndour simply dodged my flamethrower.

I tried again and again, to no avail.

I was getting irritated.

After all, if there was a human behind you, jabbering nonsense and a houndour in front of you who was intent on frying you, wouldn't you be?

But now to think of it, what was she jabbering about?

"Vulpix, please listen," she pleaded, "I can help you, use tackle, please..."

Help me?

Pah, that was utterly ridiculous! How could she help me when she couldn't even help hersel-

Ouch!

And I was stunned out of my thoughts, the houndour had managed to scorch my tail, and was now charging for a fire spin to finish me off.

I couldn't do a fire spin yet!

This totally sucks!

It shouldn't be happening like this!

I should be saving the pathetic human with only a single attack, just like the legendary Vulpix!

I looked around desperately for anything that might be able to help me, and saw the human jabbering incessantly again.

I saw the massive stream of fire heading towards me and was stunned like a stantler caught in the light.

I was too surprised to move.

"Dodge! Vulpix, dodge!"

Perhaps I should obey that voice?

After all, there was nothing else that I could do anymore.

Thus, I obeyed the voice and dodged.

"Vulpix, quick attack!"

Was she really expecting me to obey her once again?

But as I saw the houndour heading straight at me for a tackle.

I changed my mind.

Well, I had already obeyed her once, might as well obey her another time.

I did what she said for the rest of the battle.

And now, she was celebrating over my victory, or rather, as she say 'our victory'.

But it was I who did the fighting, all she did was to stand behind me.

Well… maybe she did do a bit more than that.

But, still… it was I who fought, right?

"Vulpix, we are now a team, aren't we!" she exclaimed as she lifted me up and then gave me a hug.

I was surprised, but not upset.

I reply her with a little bark and perhaps... with a little smile.

Just maybe… just maybe… I will protect her for a little longer.

After all, she is not that bad, and teaming up with her does have its appeal.

And she is still weak.

She needs protection.

I will protect her.

But really, if she wants me to do that, she should really show me some respect and gratitude.

She can start by giving me some of the lovely stew that she is cooking right now.

Ok, this is supposed to be an arrogant vulpix who refused to obey its trainer. I am a bit unsatisfied with it though, it seems to be missing something. And by the way, should I continue it? Or just leave it like this?
