Sunlight shone through the windows of Lone and Arvin's cozy cottage and into Mary's eyes. She groaned something like, "It's not time to get up yet!" and pulled the blanket over her head, ears and all. Lone and Arvin stood on the other side of the room, discussing something, obviously very serious. A glimmering hat with bright stars and fluffy clouds decorating it sat on the table between them. It seemed to almost emit an uplifting aura. "Should we wake her up now?" Lone asked Arvin. "Yes, but you have to. She gets quite the temper in the morning," he replied, laughing at his lame attemp at a joke. Lone ignored him, but smiled, and went to wake Mary up. "No mom! It's not time yet!" Mary complained as Lone grabbed her blanket with her mouth and ripped it off the bed. Mary shivered and groaned dramatically. "C'mon sleepyhead," Lone scolded. Mary groaned again and got out of bed reluctatly. "Come sit down with us," Arvin compelled, "We have something to show you." Mary was so intreiged she forgot about her drowsiness. Her ears perked up and a little bit every step she took to the table. She sat by her mother, and noticed suddenly that there was a hat placed on the table in front of her. It was a weird hat, too. There were clouds and shining stars painted on it, and it gave off an aura that made Mary feel ecstatic. "Why do I feel so happy?" Mary asked Arvin. She hoped he had an answer. "Because this hat is a magical hat. It's called The Magic Hat. Your mother and I protect it, because if it falls into the wrong paws, it could destroy the world as we know it," informed Arvin. Of course he has an answer, Mary thought to herself. "You're really happy because this hat is full of good. The good of the hat affects the people around it, making them happy too. The reason I'm telling you all of this is because on day we won't be strong enough to protect this hat, so you will have to," Arvin concluded. Mary looked petrified. Lone looked at her daughter and soothed in her most calming voice, "But you will have practice." Mary nodded and questioned, "What is the evil that could hurt the hat, and everyone else?" Arvin jumped in, "Well, for example, there is this one terrible wolf named Ivlet, and he tried to compromise the hat to hurt everyone. But, He's now in jail in North Pawville." "Arvin, should we really be telling her all of this?" Lone asked, looking worried. "Of course, Lone!" Arvin replied, "She needs to know all of this!" Mary smiled. I'm going to find Ivlet and talk to him! Mary schemed, I have to!
