Hey, so this is a poem I wrote for my Creative Composition class. Sorry that VP is taking so long, I really need to rewatch the movie... I'm working on a nice long AU project, however, the first chapter of which should be arriving sometime next week. In the meantime, enjoy this quick piece of Lloyd dealing with Colette's trasformation.
Special thanks to not only Konpeki Rei for betaing but also my CC class for giving me feedback.
I don't own Tales of Symphonia, but if I did, there wouldn't be any Zelos.
Wings unfurl, purple and pink knives in your back.
I try to scream my protests, but another body's arm restrains me, muffles my voice.
You rise, and I think of how this all started...
Happy 16th birthday to my best friend- you. A breeze rolls into our tiny village,
and with it comes the voice of hope. Your time has come, the moment you've been preparing for since birth!
I follow you, already my angel, to the beginning.
The first sight of those wings, so stunning in a blink.
You don't eat dinner, I blame your excitement.
We venture across the sea, to the largest city we have ever heard of.
We breathe in the salty air, bathe in the searing waters.
As time passes, you learn a song, a song that reminds me of
ancients and desire and fear. Things change in you, in your mind, your body.
You don't sleep that night, I blame your nerves.
Our journey leads us to a new location, but I heed it no mind.
The mountains could be pebbles for all I notice.
I instead focus on you, my once so caring angel transforming
into a being with no way of releasing its tears, bottled up so tight.
You don't feel my warmth, I blame myself.
Slow realization takes its clenching hold over me.
What is occurring inside your body is immoral, harmful, inhumane.
There are those that oppose our mission, our duty, and we slay them with no second thoughts,
but secretly, deep down in my core where the old you still exists, I agree with them.
You don't speak anymore, I blame the fates.
Wings unfurl, purple and pink knives in your back.
I try to run to you, to save your heart, but another body grips me too tight to even inhale.
Blue eyes glow red. The goal has been reached, you have fulfilled your destiny. I choke back my sobs.
An angel has risen, but you have fallen.
