A\N: Ok so since today, Oct. 10th is Naruto's birthday I decided to write a very short story, just for his birthday.

So happy birthday Naruto.

He stood, staring down at the words carved into the slab of stone that stood there in front of him, he had been too late. Too late to ensure that the thing that was most precious to him was safe. He remembered how many years ago this day was celebrated so much differently. But, for the past three years the entire village gathered around this one stone and cried to celebrate this day, no, to mourn on this day. Even the black haired boy who still stood there over the stone had cried, he only allowed himself to cry once a year anymore, only on this one day. He cried for the friend he had lost, for the hero of the village hidden in the leaves, and also for the only person he had ever truly loved, all these, were descriptions for the same person.

"Why didn't I figure it out sooner, why couldn't I save him, why couldn't I reach his side sooner so that I could fight by his side, why was it that I could not help him, and why, oh why, did I not tell him I loved him sooner than the day before he died?" Sasuke always asked himself these questions, as he stood in front of the grave, the grave of his best friend, who had died in order to save the village from the Akatsuki, his best friend who was the next in line for the title of Hokage, Sasuke read the stone one last time,

Sixth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf village

Died saving the village from the wrath of the Akatsuki

May he forever rest in peace.

Upon his deathbed he had been assigned the title Hokage, for that is truly what he was on that day. And so every year on October 10, the village would gather to mourn for their, Hokage on his birthday, and every year Sasuke would stand there long after everyone else had left. Crying for his lover.

"Happy Birthday Naruto," Sasuke said a sweet and quiet voice as he laid a single white rose upon the grave and slowly walked home.

A\N: Ok so yeah, I made Naruto dead, sorry Naruto, but this idea popped into my head while I was eating dinner and so as soon as I was done eating I ran to my computer to type this. I really wanted to write something bright and happy for his birthday, but it seams that I have caught some type of writer's block and am having trouble thinking, so anyway hope you liked it and please review
