This is one that I've had in my head for a while. It's a song inspired one-shot. Break Up With Him by Old Dominion
Olivia sat in bed late one night watching the news with the lights off when her phone rang. She looked over to see who it was calling her at midnight. Slowly, she picked it up and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Liv."
"Fitz? It's late."
"I know it's late but I knew you'd pick up."
"Are you drunk?"
"No I'm not drunk." He heard her sigh. "Okay maybe I do have a little buzz. That song came on and I just thought what harm could come from one little call."
Liv sat up a bit more in bed. "I'm not yours."
"I know you say you're taken but I say, Liv, you're taken too long. Tell him that it's over. Come over. Your stringing him along any longer is wasting precious time."
"Fitz, you have to wait. It's not the right time."
"I can't wait. Rip it off just like a band-aid. The way you look at me, Liv, you can't pretend. I know you aren't in love with him. Break up with him."
Liv sunk deeper into the covers listening to Fitz. "I don't want to break his heart."
"That's not a good reason to keep us apart. Tell him it's you, not him. Lie and tell him you can still be friends. Just say whatever you got to say to get it through to him that you don't love him. You can't deny that you and I fit like a glove. Just tell him that it's over. Then you can come over."
Olivia held a deep breath in and listened more to him.
"You know stringing him along is wasting time and I can't wait. You don't love him so break up with him."
"I can't."
"Liv, you would have hung up by now if you weren't thinking it too. But no pressure, just do what you have to do but if I were you I would tell him that it's over and come over here to me. Stop wasting time and tell him you don't love him. Break up with him Livie."
Fully under the covers with the phone to her ear, "okay."
