Hey fellow fanfictioners, I got the idea for this story from all the dreary weather we've been having in NSW, I think you can guess what it'll be about, that's right! A STORM!
Damon walked outside the kitchen, hearing Elena's heartbeat speed up right after the thunderclap echoed through the sky.
"You alright? ", asked Damon, walking over to the lounge and sitting next to her.
Elena jumped at his voice, obviously not having realised that he entered the room, "Damon, don't sneak up on me like that! "
"I didn't sneak up on you, I heard you're heartbeat speed up and I came to check what was wrong. ", said Damon.
Elena sighed, "Sorry, I'm just a little on edge, I don't like storms. "
"Why not? ", asked Damon, turning to her.
"I just don't like them, there's lightning and thunder and hail, and I just don't like them! ", exclaimed Elena making Damon chuckle.
"Whenever I think of storms I think of Paris. ", said Damon.
Elena glanced at him strangely, "Why? "
Damon continued, "There was this one storm in the 50's that was so bad, police were telling people to get off the street, the hail was so bad it was smashing car windows. ", said Damon.
Elena's eyes widened, gesturing for him to go on, "It went on for hours, people were staying in their homes, trying to take their minds off the disaster outside. When it finally ended everyone walked outside, watching the rainbow paint the sky, that storm was more than ten times worse than this one. ", said Damon.
Elena blinked, "Tell me more about Paris. "
Damon smiled, "Alright, back then you could almost imagine your life being black and white, when you were there you felt like you were in an old movie. Many people said the phrase, il dolce far niente, which means the sweetness of doing nothing. Women back then weren't worried about becoming overweight, everybody loved food. "
Elena smiled, "Sounds like it was fun. ", she said.
"It was. "
"I've always wanted to go to Paris, I probably never will, though. ", said Elena.
Damon tilted his head to the side, "Who said you never will? "
Elena smiled, "No one, it's just- ", Damon cut her off.
"Exactly, no one is holding you back, promise me that one day in the close future you'll come with me to Paris. ", said Damon.
Elena smiled, "OK. ", she said.
Damon stood up, picking her up in the process, "By the way, that was too easy. "
Elena looked at him confused, "What was too easy? "
"Distracting you. ", said Damon, turning around and walking up the stairs, leaving Elena standing there, her mouth open.
