Sunrise on a New Tomorrow

Duo sighed as he continued his vigil. The war was still raging, yet he felt compelled to go someplace quiet for a while. The only things he had with him was a sleeping bag, haversack with food and clothes, and a small radio.

"Might as well try to find something decent to listen to while I am here." Duo thought, as he turned on the radio and searched for a clear radio station. When he finally found one, he snorted in disgust.

"A Christian station! Of all the ironies!" Duo thought, about to turn the radio off. Then a familiar tune came to his ears.

"Hey, isn't this the beginning of that song Hilde likes so much?" Duo wondered, as his hand fell away from the radio dial and the song began.

Words fall like drops of rain,

My lips are like clouds,

I say so many things,

Trying to figure you out.

"Sure, whatever." Duo muttered, but continued listening, nonetheless.

But as mercy opens my eyes,

My words are stolen away,

With this breathtaking view of your grace.

And I am speechless,

I'm astonished and amazed,

I am silenced, by Your wondrous grace,

You have saved me, You have raised me,

From the grave.

And I am speechless, in Your presence now,

I'm astounded, as I consider how,

You have shown us a love that leaves us,

Speechless.

Now Duo was listening. The song had caught his attention.

So what kind of love could this be,

That would trade heaven's throne for a cross?

And to think You still celebrate, over finding just one who was lost.

There were tears in Duo's eyes now. In his mind, he could almost hear Father Maxwell talking to him through the song. No, it wasn't Father Maxwell………it was Someone far more powerful.

And to know you rejoice over us,

The God of this whole universe,

Is a story that's too great for words,

And I am speechless,

I'm astonished and amazed,

I am silenced, by Your wondrous grace,

You have saved me, You have raised me

From the grave,

And I am speechless, in Your presence now,

I'm astounded, as I consider how,

You have shown us a love that leaves us,

Speechless.

Duo looked up when he saw warmth on his face and saw that the sun was just beginning to rise. Duo was speechless.

Oh how great is the love,

The Father has lavished upon us,

That we should be called, the sons and the daughters of God.

We are speechless, so amazed,

(We stand in awe of Your grace)

(We stand in awe of Your mercy)

You have saved us,

(We stand in awe of Your love)

From the grave

(We are speechless)

We are speechless in Your presence now,

(We stand in awe of Your cross)

We're astounded as we consider how,

(We stand in awe of Your power)

You have shown us a love that leaves us,

Speechless.

"Duo? What're you doing out here all by yourself?" Hilde asked, as she walked over to where Duo sat. She was surprised when she saw tears in Duo's eyes.

"Hilde, would you do me a favor?" Duo asked.

"Yeah, sure. What is it, Duo?" Hilde asked.

"Would you mind telling me again how you accepted Christ?" Duo asked, as he wiped his eyes and looked at her. Hilde stood frozen for a moment, then nodded. She understood what had just happened with Duo and she sat down beside him.

"It all started when my folks took me to Bible School……………." Hilde began, as the sun rose before them, bathing them both in it's golden light.
