A drabble that came to me and had to be written, short, un-betaed but enjoy!

Song Lyrics: Taking Over Me-Evanescence

How many times she imagined this she couldn't remember-it was a lot, she was sure of that. All the times she lay in bed at night alone, wondering what it was like to lie in his arms, had been worth it.

I lie awake and try so hard not to think of you

But who can decide what they dream, and dream I do

She had never loved Johannes; she always knew that-however life as she wanted it was impossible with the one man she knew she would love a lifetime. Johannes offered a chance of stability, comfort and a family, why wouldn't she say no? She knew he was a good man and would treat her right-he did. They had a good marriage, no passion, well not on her part, but it was better then most. The arrival of Meg had brought an extra happiness into their somewhat contented lives.

When he died Meg was two, she didn't shed any tears for the husband she had never really loved just merely wondered what her and her small child would do. Her talent for ballet saw her back at the one place she never thought she would return to, The Opera House. He was pleased to see her back, greeted her warmly, and gave her the job of delivering notes to the managers.

She wasn't sure how he felt about her; however his feelings were made perfectly clear, with the arrival of Christine. The girl tried to hide who was teaching her, but she knew years before Christine confided in her. She was never jealous of the child-how can you be when you love her like a daughter? She just didn't want to see her come to harm.

The aftermath of the "incident" as she now refers to it saw Christine and Raoul flee to live abroad. The night Christine had left; he had shown up to her room, a first for him. When they were children she was the one who always visited him in his lair. When he had shown up, she wasn't surprised; she figured he wanted the company. For the first time since they were children they talked all night. He only left when the sun rose and she had to prepare for the day ahead. The next night he had come to her again. This time he had a different agenda. He told her what she truly meant to him- he had never loved Christine, he had been infatuated with her and her voice, it was she, the girl who had rescued him as a boy who he loved. His words had made her weak, and she had to lie down. Soon he joined her, and she knew she had never known bliss until this moment.

Feeling contented, Antoinette smiled, then turned over and settled back down to sleep with the one man she wanted since childhood beside her.
