Me: Good day everyone! It's me, Misty, back with a surprise for y'all. It's a rebooted version of my old story: Kia! But this time, better. So basically, I lost all muse for my other stories and decided to just rewrite the old ones.
Kia: Plus this might draw in some new readers.
Me: Yep! So…uh, sorry to everyone that was left on SnW, but it'll probably be awhile before we finish that again. But on the bright side, we're gonna make the older stories make sense! Yay!
Kia: And to any new readers, welcome! We're thrilled to have you.
Me: Yep, alright let's get this rolling!
A.F.O Headquarters: Wilkes Land, Antarctica.
"So, what you're saying is that these two canons put together, with a bit of a snow tossed in, will actually make a self revolving snow ball launcher? I don't know, Kia, I feel like that would need more to work…"
"Don't question me! I know what I'm talking about."
Currently, a group of agent penguins were just outside the main base of the A.F.O, otherwise known as: The Antarctic(And Arctic) Forces Organization. Five of the penguins were crowded around a rather strange looking one, who appeared to be the oldest.
She was showing them a model of two canons, pointed in different directions. Odd, long feathers fell from her head, falling into her face, only kept out of the way by a large pink bow.
One of the younger penguins, a small chinstrap penguin, lifted her flipper up, beak agape, about to ask another question, when the doors swung open and out waddled a tall, stern looking king penguin, with a blind eye.
He made his way to the group, making them all freeze until he was there. "Agent Frost, cadets," he greeted, voice low and raspy, making it hard to understand him. However he stood with such authority that no one dared question him.
The penguin with the bow saluted to him, with the others following suit. "Hello there Commander Patricks, what can we do for you?" She asked with a smile, voice rather cheery.
Commander Patricks sent her an unamused look as he placed his flippers behind his back. "General Frost has requested to see you in his office immediately, he didn't tell me why. I suggest you leave now," he explained tartly.
The penguin glanced back to the five cadets warily for a moment before putting all her focus back to the commander. "Of course. Uh, sorry guys, I guess I'll have to show you how it works later," she promised with a quick glance back at the other penguins before she set off towards the Headquarters entrance.
She waddled in, walking past some of the other agents as they scurried from place to place in such a rush it left no time for talking among each other. Most of the agents were penguins, as this was the main base in Antarctica, however there were the occasional seal, as well as some animals from the arctic, who had been transferred there for one reason or another.
However the penguin agent in question paid them little attention as she walked past, only stopping once she had reached the general's office on the second floor of the large, round, camouflaged base.
Taking an unsure breath, she curled her flipper up and gave the door three swift, loud knocks.
At first, she was met with nothing. However a moment later, a gruff sounding voice answered. "Come in."
She did as allowed, pushing the door open as she let herself into the dark room, where there was nothing else but a desk with stacks of paper scattered on it, a small, outdated computer, and the old penguin behind it all.
"…Patricks said you wanted to talk to me?" She questioned as she waddled over to stand in front of the desk, having to wave her flipper away from the paper just so he could see that she was there.
General Frost nodded, peering past one stack of paper to look at her. "Yes, that's right. I've decided that it's time you move on with your next mission," he explained, surprising the younger penguin in front of him.
"Next mission? But sir, my cadets aren't fully trained yet and I'm not even sure what I could do without a team…" She started, trailing off as she desperately tried to think of any other excuse that she could. However it wasn't enough.
"Your cadets don't need your help anymore. They'll be fine on their own," General Frost dismissed with an easy wave of his flipper. "As for a team…well, the answer to that is simple, your new mission isn't without a team," he explained.
Her eyes widened in even greater surprise than before. "You mean…they're-" she started tentatively, only to get promptly cut off by the general, who gave a solemn shake of his head.
"No, Kia. It's not them. You know as well as I do that your old team is dead. It's time you realized that and stopped grasping at straws for reasons to believe they're not," he ordered, though despite his harsh words, he only spoke softly, as if talking to a young child.
Kia's shoulders sagged in disappointment, though she did her best not to let it show as she looked to him, taking a moment to decide on what to say next. "…If it's not them. Than who exactly do you plan on sticking me with? What team could possibly compare to-" As she was about to launch into a rant, the general once again, cut her off.
"They call themselves The Penguins, they're one of the best, the elitist of the elite. All penguins, stationed at a smaller base in the Central Park Zoo, New York," he explained, making Kia's eyes go wide with panic.
"A zoo? But General, you know how I feel about zoos. They completely lack any freedom. You're only there to appease those humans, you can't control anything in your life. You're trapped, trapped like trapped in a small box with no escape, trapped. Please don't send me to a zoo…" She begged quietly. It was a little pathetic, but at least she wasn't moping about her old team anymore.
The general furrowed his feathery brow, waiting for her to finish before he continued. "Kia, you've never been to a zoo. You don't know what they're like, and besides, you would be surprised what this team manages to do there. Trust me, this will be good for you, and them. I think they could really benefit from having you there, just as you could benefit from being there," he told her, voice soft yet firm. "You'll fit right in," he reassured, and just when it looked like she was going to argue, he continued. "I'm not asking as a father, Kia. I'm ordering you as a general. You will go to the Central Park Zoo, and you will join their team. Is that understood?"
Kia opened her beak to object, but thought better of it last second and closed it again, giving a simple nod of understanding. "Yes sir."
He nodded in approval. "Good, we have people contacting them about your arrival right now. There's a transport from here to the Berkner export leaving in a few minutes. Take that, there'll be someone at Livingston station to take you the rest of the way, get going," he ordered, tossing her a file with all the other information she would need.
Kia saluted, reaching to the table to pick up the file. "I will. But, is it alright if I say goodbye to my cadets first?" She questioned, and after a pause, the general nodded. So, with that, Kia smiled and took her leave.
General Frost shook his head slightly after she had left, beginning to rub his forehead with his flipper. "Oh I hope this goes well, for all their sakes…" He muttered under his breath.
Then, a few minutes later, his doors burst open and a macaroni penguin entered, letting out a small eep at the loud noise the door had made. "Sorry to bother you sir, but I came as fast as I could. Something's gone wrong with our communications tower!" She squeaked out, looking rather nervous. "We weren't able to contact The Penguins about Agent Frost's arrival. Please tell me you haven't sent her off yet…"
General Frost paused for a moment before letting out a groan as he slapped his flipper to his forehead. "Great Blizzards, this isn't going to end well…" He grumbled before focusing on the girl again. "Go get working on our communications, we need to tell them as soon as possible," he ordered.
The macaroni penguin jumped before nodding and waddling out as soon as she could, forgetting to close the door on her way out, however at the moment, General Frost did not seem to mind as he shook his head, looking out the window.
"I hope Skipper can take her word for it…If not, Kia might never trust me again," he said, somewhat humorously yet also far too serious to be kidding. This, well this could very well end in disaster.
Me: The end…of the prologue.
Kia: So, as you can see, if you read the original, this is already different from that.
Me: As will the entire story. While some things will remain the same-
Kia: Others will not, so it'll be like a whole new story on it's own.
Me: Yep! But this is it for now, please review, we love your reviews, and catch us next time on…
Kia: The Penguin Credo!
Me: Later guys! Hope you enjoyed it! Bye!
